I would like to publically and officially apologize for the controvery which has started as a result of my inclusion of a shoulder pauldron in my approval photos.
It was never my intention to have this happen. I wanted to show the range of options that I had available for this costume. My local squad members who helped me with the armor strapping and taking of the photos also thought it would be a good inclusion.
I was going by what I thought was appropriate per the CRL for a TX. And I also looked at the "official" photos on the 501st Legion costume roster for the Special Ops troopers. There are at least 10 TX photos with members displaying a pauldron as part of their uniform. I felt that if official photos had this option approved item displayed, that photos for acceptance could have them as well.
I sincerely hope I am not the cause of this detachment losing the privilege of wearing the shoulder pauldron as part of our uniform. I feel bad enough already to have been the cause of this controversy.
Although this costume had been approved previously in the South Carolina garrison, it was missing some mandatory pieces. The bucket had no brow trim or tube stripes, which I have since applied. And the sniper knee plate was attached on the wrong calf piece, which I have fixed as well. I have tried to bring my armor in line with the requirements of the CRL.
I have been very excited to have a chance to wear this armor on an official troop. Unfortunately that excitement has diminished over the past week. Now I just hope that it may get approved, but do not have high expectations here. And I feel that I have brought shame upon the SpecOps detachment.
I apologize to the members of this fine detachment. Our CO is a member of my garrison, so this controversy hits close to home. And the XO and many other members have been extremely helpful in answering questions and giving advice. I sincerely hope that my photos for submission do not lead to a change in the CRL for this detachment.
I am unsure as to whether or not I should contact the LMO about the matter. And I my contact my local GML and have him officially withdraw this submission for the time being, until I can get photos taken again without the pauldron.
Thank you all for your support and understanding,
Jeff Anderson TI-6897 and still hopeful TX Whoa! Pump the brakes man! There is NO controversy! You haven't brought anything negative at all on the Spec Ops Detachment. Seriously! Please for all of us, keep your excitement! We always need that type of trooper. All we are trying to do is get your TX approved the fastest way possible. I apologize to you on behalf of the detachment for thinking that you had to apologize to us. There is no need brother! Keep trooping and keep representing this Legion the way you always have, with honor and your head high. We will be honored to have you as a part of this detachment! Troop on bro!
