Almost two years for me to figure out how I should reply to this... *deep breath* We know by now how heated (hah!) things can get about the Magmatrooper. Kevin, I know where you stand on this. You want red Stormtroopers to be Magmatroopers, even if it ain't so. I can only imagine how irksome it must be for you to see me keep harping on the opposing viewpoint. I was at Celebration IV. My girlfriend and I both got that print. We both spent a while talking with the artist. We both love the WWII propeganda poster style. It is a false-colour painting, like the aforementioned '30s/'40s propeganda posters (Google image search it). Notice all the accessories and details are also red-tinted. It's artistic license. They are not Magmatroopers, or red-armoured Royal Guards, or even just Stormtroopers painted red. Sorry. I'm somewhat frustrated by your resistance to this. A big part of why the Detachments exist is to research a costume or group of costumes, update standards, make things clearer and more accurate, and pass the findings along to the Legion Council to update their standards and costume list. To quote Commander Chris, late of the Clonetroopers board, "We must become better!" It'd be easy to clear this up -- just a note on the Magmatrooper that it's never been seen or described, and the red Stormtrooper re-labelled something more accurate to the documentation (my vote: Royal Guard Stormtrooper armour). Then we can maybe get started on things like the EVO Trooper, Jump Trooper, Incinerator Trooper, and other EU Trooper variants that have shown up in the last couple years. ![]() --Jonah |
