Tonight we have our 15+ members in good standing with the 501st, so I have applied to Tim and Mark for official Detachment status within the 501st Legion. I haven't heard back yet, but this could take a bit with all the summer ROTS activities going on, so be patient.

Thank you all so very much and I'm certain that Jason (who's currently deployed at Marine Basic Training) will be very happy to know we're getting there.

Let's get these forums rolling and start making decisions on how we'd like the Det to evolve.

I just know we can increase our numbers with all the TXs and ROTS Spec Ops/Shocktrooper clones out there in the 501st, so evangelize the group and bring people here. A Det is only as good as it's members... And personally I know we ARE the best of the best and this is an opportunity to shape the Det the way you want it.

I am determined to help people get their armor, get it detailed, and look their best.

Way to go, troops! And thanks for supporting the best damned detachment in the 501st!

Oooooh-RAH!

Any news on if we are official or not?

Not yet. They want a logo/patch submission first. That's all that's hanging us up.

I've requested assistance of my Mountain Garrison CO to get us Official. Apparently I can't get Mark Chu Lin to get us validated.

By the charter rules, we don't need a patch prior to starting the Det. We have a logo (interim), but graphics shouldn't be holding us up.

I'd urge those who wish to help request assistance from their COs as well. We've been trying to get this done for over a year now, and with 21 members, we should be official by now.

What do we need to ask our CO's to do?

I went and asked my XO Darth Zippy over at the NER for his help. He is good about getting to the bottom of things.

I'd just ask that they bring it up to the council. We've been active for over a year now and apparently I can't get Mark Chu Lin to respond to emails.

We have 21 members now, more than most squads. It shouldn't take this long to be deemed official. ;)

If Zippy doesn't get a chance, I can bring it up to the council and see what's up.

We're currently in the process of inspection for official inclusion within the 501st. Thanks to all who have helped make this Det a great resource thus far and it's my hope that all the leads hard work over the past year and a half will be recognized.

We also met a new record of 30 members. This makes us bigger than some garrisons! Way to go! Now we just have to agree on a patch and logo/slogan. ;)

Here's my open letter to the Council, sent this morning...

To get back on target, I will happily agree to the Special Operations Detachment being TX-only with the exception that the Special Operations Clones can be included (because they are designated as Special Operations Clones by LFL) despite the fact that your wish is for us to be an EU-only Det (per the Charter).

Like I said before, we have a great relationship and continue to share members between us and the Clonetrooper Detachment (most of our members belong to both Dets), and we will continue to peacefully co-exist despite sharing that one costume.

Also keep in mind that the TX designation (a completely made-up designation) was created by the Legion before the Spec Ops Clones hit the world in ROTS. We would appreciate it if this one exception was made in our favor.

Please feel free to give me a call at (719) 556-8403 during work hours or (719) 201-5911 after work should you have any questions at all.

There is immense interest in this Detachment and my intent is not to rock the boat or go against any Legion rules. I'd just like to ensure we're given a fair shot at doing things right.

I responed to Albin and the council this morning and have agreed that we will host TX-only costumes in this Detachment. I'm sorry if any current member is disappointed by this decision, but it's the way they wanted it.

I am willing to assist alienated members due to this decision, but if there isn't a 501st Detachment that hosts our dropped categories, I'll work with the other Dets to make you feel at home there or assist you with starting your own Det. Snowtroopers should be covered by Blizzard Force (that is getting restarted) and the IRGs should apply for official Det status if it's fallen by the wayside (nobody can agree if there is an official Det for them or if they are informal at this time).

Again, I apologize, but I have to follow the wishes of the council on this, even if it isn't implicitly stated in the charter. If popular opinion changes, we'll roll with it.

So we should know soon if we're deemed official.
