Detachment Patch ideas; Opinions and inputs needed

Think about what you would like it to look like and what image you'd like to portray to the public and the rest of the 501st. I'd say we should go Black, Red, and White to symbolize the colors of the armor we wear in the Spec Ops Det, but it's open for input. So far, the best name idea is: Silent Knights (Silent being Special Ops) and Knights (being the best of the best). Motto put forth is: "Kill 'em all - Let Vader sort 'em out!" Please provide your best ideas and we'll go from there to do a final vote. Kevin

Member Posts: 16 Group: Members Member #6 Joined: June 2, 2005	I like the red/white/black color scheme idea, it fits very well. Do we have to be limited to one single patch? I was thinking it could be good to have three patches, differing only in the kind of trooper depicted on the patch: either the black stealth trooper, the red magma trooper (is it magma or magna?), or the white clone commando. Select one of the other two colors as the background color behind the trooper/helmet. Or were you thinking of something more abstract for the design? Silent Knights has some possibilities. I wouldn't want to tick off any Christians who might feel we're making light of one of their hymns. How about something like Silent Service or Empire's Elite? The motto sounds just a little bloodthirsty. Special Ops should be the most professional in a Legion of professional troopers. Maybe something of just a few words, like Duty Honor Empire? Loyalty Bravery Secrecy? I dunno.

If we get the designs, I think we can make a group decision on them. And as with any merchandising we do, it will be done at no profit for members only to keep costs down. Yeah, the slogan is a bit blood-thirsty, but you have to remember how professional, yet tough and gung-ho the real Special Forces can be. We can perhaps turn this an opposite direction, such as "No child left behind!" or "Every child wins!" in Aurabesh to go with our charity roots. It's a simple play on the tough guy/girl with a heart of gold idea. I'd say keep it simple, as few colors as possible, and convery an image we wish to stand up for.

Name: I don't have a problem with Silent Knights. However if we want an alternative Silent Sentinels is one possibility that comes to mind. Motto: As far as a motto some good ideas out there so far. Duty, Honor, Empire is in use on the Imperal Officer patches already.

Detachment Leader Posts: 1,607 Group: Supporter Member #1 Joined: June 1, 2005	The 501st Leadership has requested that we have a print-ready logo and patch ready to go, so if anyone wishes to contribute, please submit your ideas, drawings, etc. I think we need to rule on these things as a group rather than the DLs make a command decision on your behalf. That's the beauty of a democracy, in that everyone can and will be heard.

That might make it easier to come up with patch designs. To summarize the suggestions made earlier in this thread: NICKNAME Silent Knights Silent Service Empire's Elite Silent Sentinels MOTTO Kill 'em all - Let Vader sort 'em out! Ridding the universe of Jedi Scum - Ok, kinda derogatory, but is memorable. I'm all for new ideas. Once we get enough, I'll submit them for a general membership vote and the winner will be it. Same for Patch ideas, but I need submissions. I have solicited a professional artist, so a rough idea will work and I'll have the artist clean and polish the idea. This is YOUR group, folks. Unlike most 501st orgs, I'm letting you decide.
