>silly question, but probably valid. i got my helmet today, and am already in the process of modifying it for my small (but wiry) frame. i can't do too much to shrink the helmet, tho, so i was wondering: do any of you guys wear lifts in your boots? i'm only about 5'5" and skinny as hell, so i'm looking for options other than "storm commando with freakishly large head." input? |

Muscle suit and platform boots? But actually, I know several ladies in the 501st who are on the shortish side, and they manage to not look like bobbleheads. Just concentrate on filling out the armour, and don't worry too much about the height. --Jonah |

True... you could look at one of my fellow garrison mates - she looks like a turtle. In fact when I am not calling her short trooper, I have been known to call her the TK Turtle.

With the flight suit and cummerbund, plus the armor and hip boxes, even slender folks look a lot bigger as scouts. You'll be fine! |

Yeah, adding the flak vest with its padded sleevelets helps, too. --Jonah |

VI. WEAPONS -- Storm Commando blasters and meleé weapons •Blasters are ESB/RotJ-style E-11 with a SinglePoint scope replacing the artillery scope. No protrusions on the left side. This is carried in the right side holster. •Smaller sidearm in the left side holster. This can be a Scout holdout blaster, SE-14R, or General Lando's Rebel Fleet Officer pistol from RotJ, made from a Heckler & Koch P9S. •DLT-20A sniper rifle is acceptable optional addition. •Concept Scout carbine is acceptable optional addition Why would an imperial storm commando use a rebel fleet officer pistol? I havent seen any visual references to this weapon. Would one of the Mauser based pistols of the Empire like the Merr-Sonn 44 or the "Power" 5 be more appropriate. See link for pics http://www.partsofsw.com/ |

Like any real world commando team, the members are an elite cadre of soldier. They are often given the best of, or their own personal choice, of weaponry that they deem appropriate according to mission perameters. Should the commando feel that a blaster pistol that some Rebel happens to be using suits their needs, they will use it without hesitation. It doesn't make less Imperial by nature at all. Of course the weaponry to choose from would also depend on what is available in any given local arsenal. - Bill |

I agree. However, we are once again limited by visual references. Since you can't make out the weapons in the pictures, what is going to be considered "cannon." One picture shows a carbine or a large pistol holstered on the right side. I dont agree that this should be limited to a right handed E-11 (with the clip cut out.) This costume is getting frustrating... |

Well, we all know the original drawing by now:![]() It's hard to make out the details of the weapons, but the artist has illustrated regular E-11s and DL-44s and so forth accurately elsewhere, so it makes sense ot me that whatever is visible in this drawing is accurate. The left-side pistol doesn't show much, but Lando's blaster looks as good as any, and better than some, for the role: ![]() I have debated at length, and for convenience and because it matches at least as well, I'm going with the Mer-Sonn Model 44: ![]() All costumes are frustrating at least once during the process... *heh* Try making two dozen. --Jonah |

This biker scout looks a bit strange... http://www.starshipmodeler.org/wfest2k6/v_bp_speederbike.jpg Is this a totally new set of armor? |

I don't think it's new armor. It looks like artist interpretation. The helmet looks like a cross between a Scout and a Barc. The brown front and thigh pouches look kinda cool. IMHO |

ehh... the face doesn't look elongated enough to be a Barc Trooper, i think its an Episode VI scout equivilant to a TD, a dirty scout so to say. I'll have to agree that its probably more or less an artists representation (taking into account its also riding a ROTJ speeder), and they thought shiny white armor didn't much logical sense for a scout in a forest. Also the modeling seems a bit wonky with the helmet as a whole... |

Look at the URL. WonderFestival 2006. There are a lot of garage kits, custom jobs, and one-offs on display. That's the point. The pieces that come out of the box are almost always a starting point for more work, those that even get used at all. *heh*. That's almost certainly a customized Biker Scout garage kit. Wonder what the story behind it is... EDIT: I looked more carefully at the three photos of it, and that looks like an almost stock ERTL speeder bike, with a heavily modded Scout Trooper resculpted/repositioned to approximate the pose of this, with all the details customised to match the builder's unique vision. --Jonah |

Well it's been almost a year since this thread has seen any action. Are there any updates on the CRL? I'm guessing that black scout armor following all of the normal white scout rules have been approved? Someone else mentioned to me that their might be a ranking system with these like there is with Biker Scouts? (Standard vs elite?, i.e. Special Ops Scout vs Storm Commando?) Thanks for any updated information. |
