Whoops. Forgot to reply to this. Getting busy again prior to my surgery, and I've been out of the house a lot.
Anyhoo. The Star Wars Databank is a verbatim transcription of the Visual Dictionary. The EU section is quoting the Stormtrooper and Specialist Stormtrooper pages of the VD. On the second page of the two-page spread that illustrates those Specialist Stormtroopers is an impressive photo of a Scout Trooper on a Speeder Bike, a bunch of text, and a text box at lower left that says exactly the same thing as the Databank:
You don't seem to believe me when I say there's never been a mention of it being red -- except on Wookieepedia and in the 501st Charter.
From Wookieepedia:
Wookieepedia is unreliable because of the user-edited nature of these databases -- the sources cited are the Databank and Visual Dictionary. Neither of which actually says anything about them being red, or them being nicknamed Lavatroopers. That's pure conjecture on the writer's part, and -- unfortunately -- will be taken as gospel by someone who doesn't realize Wookieepedia employs no fact-checkers, and that you should double-check everything on a wiki against the cited references. *heh* I apologize for flogging this long-dead equine, but it's about burden of proof. Fact 1: Red Stromtroopers exist. Fact 2: Magmatroopers exist. Posit: Red Stormtroopers are Magmatroopers. Burden of proof is on the positor. And so far, none of the supporting evidence offered has held up -- rather, it's weakened the original posit. I can find lots of evidence that Red Stormtroopers are not Magmatroopers. Scientific Method at work. If the hypothesis doesn't fit the observed phenomena, alter the hypothesis. I once again want to say, I'm all in favour of red Stormtrooper armour. I may do it myself someday, once my two-dozen higher-priority costume projects have been cleared. *heh* After all, I am first and foremost a Royal Guard and (even if the source is of questionable quality or accuracy) there's one source that establishes that there are at least two squads of Royal Guards in red Stormtrooper armour attached to Imperial Intelligence. *holds out hands helplessly* They're just not Magmatroopers, though. --Jonah |

Good luck on the surgery. Like I said, we'll work on getting the specs and documentation. It's just a matter of time. |
