Hello all,

I need to know what colors are excepted by the 501st on the Stealth helmet. Is it any? What colors are most common or most accepted? Are the ear ranks painted or stay black? Are the ab buttons always the same color as the frown? Just pretty much want to qualify for a "TX" designation. Thanks for the help guys.

I'm in the process of working on my TX armor as well... I've got the frown painted (used "Dark Machine Gray" from Rustoleum). I think the ear caps will get painted too... that's it. Everything else is staying black. I'm not even sure if I'm going to put the shiny mylar strips on my thermal detonator/O2 canister. I'm definitely not painting it, though... not like I did with the TK armor.

Right oh, DP,

I agree with the O2 cannister. I am keeping that all black as well. Thanks for the color tip. I think I will paint the ab buttons the same color. :ph43r:

I opted to leave the ab buttons black... yeah, I know you can't see them unless you look up close, but I would think that the entire concept of a "stealth trooper" is to be as "hidden" as possible... and it's enough that you have a gray frown and grey screwcaps. :)

I went with a red accents for my TX, which unfortunatly seems to have gotten me in trouble with the approval process. I think it looks really cool but was told that to have it accepted as a 501st I had to repaint it in gray. I guess I am just a bit different but I thought the gray/silver accents looked...I don't know kinda boring. Went with red frown cheeck, and back trapazoids, and a red pauldron. Can't recomend it because of the issues I have had, my GML is taking to the LMO about whether they can accpet my custome or not, so...BTW was also told that I have to get rid of the pauldron, not because it is red, but cause TXes don't wear pauldrons...shrug. Kept the buttons black and just put the mylar/chrome tape on the canisters.

Here is a picture of my helmet/suit

BTW I was warned I would probably have some problems with getting it approved, but had already painted it by that time and just had to soldier on. As I said I can't recomended doing anything but the stock black/gray color scheme just based on my experiences.

As a Det, we define/refine the accepted standards for the TX costume. I will never accept the opinion of someone who doesn't know the real official standards and has NEVER done the costume when we as a Det have gone to great lengths to research and prove them.

Whoever informed you about the pauldrons is wrong - they specifically denote rank (canon according to the Star Wars Databank) and are NOT Sandtrooper-specific. I'd be more than happy to discuss with your CO about this known fact.

Paint scheme-wise, initially you must have black/grey as defined by the EU comics, but after your membership has been accepted by the Legion and membership pics posted on the site, feel free to do whatever color scheme you wish. They can never remove you if you had it submitted first as a valid TX.

After seeing Erik's TD-X in person, I'll be darned if I wouldn't troop next to him any day despite the fact it's not an accepted costume. The same goes with your red striped one. ;)
