If you are interested you can buy a Black ABS kit for around 600-650. It is a little expensive but it look incredible cool!!!
There is one thing about this kit that I'm not sure about, as far as I can remember most of the references are NOT glossy black.

That back plate looks better then the one I got from KS. My back plate is all smooth. I'm having a little trouble getting the tank to attach properly.

That set of armor looks like the set that comes from an armor dealer (that I won't mention) that I am familiar with. I think these guys are really cool. They have always had great costumer service via email correspondence. Although, a friend of mine who is a TB got a replacement piece from them and wasn't impressed with the quality of their armor.
$600 - $650 seems excessive for basically a black biker scout armor set. And for anyone to tell you that black is more expensive because of the color difference is deluding you. Black, white, red, green or blue, it doesn't matter. The cost of sheets of abs plastic are the same regardless of color! And it doesn't take any more time to mold the pieces in black plastic than it does in white. The bottom line is that you have to careful when purchasing your set of armor. A TB armor set has a going rate of about $300 - $350. This is excluding the helmet, of course. I am just talking about the armor set itself. So why pay $300 more dollars for the same set of armor in a different color???
It makes no sense to me. One could buy the white TB set and give it a good paint job. With modern paints out there like Krylon Fusion, which is designed to bond paint to plastic on the molecular level, this is certainly a viable solution. Heck, even buying white armor and taking it to an automotive paint shop is still (probably) cheaper that buying the black armor sets for that much money.
I understand that armor suppliers are in the business of making money. But, geez, do you have to hose us costumers in the process? They wouldn't hose a TB costumer for that much money on the white armor, so why do it on a set that is of a different color when the cost of the sheets of plastic are the same, regardless of color???

OK, I am done ranting for now... I think. :ph43r:

I think i know which armorer you're talking about, i recognize the picture.
As far as the price goes, supply and demand, they only had two sets (if we're talking about the same supplier) and that kit included the helmet in addition to the armor set.
But i understand you frustration.

btw, are we not allowed to put up links to armorers here, whats the policy on that, i've seen it more than once where armorers contact info or names were purposly excluded from a post.
Just want to be informed on the rules of engagement there.

It all has to do with the deal that the 501st has with the Lucas franchise. We aren't to make any money off of our little hobby. If so, we run the risk of getting nasty cease and desist orders from the Lucas camp. How can he do that? Well, he owns all the patent and copywrites of everything Star Wars. Because we do our thing for charity and is completely non-profit, he allows it. But should anyone attempt to make a profit off of armor sets and they are not licensed to do so from the Lucas camp..... well you get the idea. It is a matter of self-preservation of our club. This is why the "How do I get armor" threads are shunned. Or at least the broadcasting of unauthorized dealers is, anyway.
Asking if there are any armor dealers out there and the proceeding to take the conversation to PM is one thing, to publicly discuss the issue is another.
And you will find this to be the case on any Star Wars forum. Be it here, at the 501st forum, a local garrison forum or any of the various forums on theforce.net.
