Ok, I wasn't happy enough with the RG/Kir Kanos set, a buddy of mine just got his "Blackhole" trooper armor in and WOW! I want to do the Storm Commando costume. Any suggestions on where to start?

Check the references and ask the guys who already have worked on it.

Well, I've gone and done it, and my Paypal is screamin'!

Flight suit and gloves are on their way, and I should see the armor in about a month (thks perkeo). Still undecided as to the under-vest (opinions please).
Now the question is do I go all out and pick up the suede and straps for the suit...

OK, got the KS Scout armor and have it all trimmed out (helmet was a mother though). Waiting on my black set from the BSN lady, a couple questions though before I call it done;

-I want to use a red lens for the helmet, realizing the standards aren't quite set yet, any thoughts?
-What's everyone using (planning on using) for boots?

Thanks,

Jason

Since I'm planning on making the Black Biker Scout version I'll be making a black version of the scout boot.

Others are using a more military type boot from what I've seen.

I'm going to do the General Weir costume, myself. As far as footwear... I think I am just going to stick with a round-toed black chesea style shoe or boot. I'd thought about using my black jungle boots, but I decided against it.
I actually wear these slip-on style shoes for work that are real comfortable. They do resemble the aforementioned chelsea shoes. So, I may just get me another pair of these and call it good.
They are the Chinook brand. If you have a Chinook shoe dealer in your area (or a Fred Meyer), I would check those out.

I actually started work on the SC yesterday at my garrison armor party. I some progress done. Basically a lot of the pieces are trimmed up (with more fine-tuning to be done). I have several more pieces to trim up before I get to the actual assembly of the armor set.
One thing I do need though, if anyone can help me out with, is a complete, comprehesive list of supplies needed for the assembly of the kit. As you all may well know, the kit was just that, a kit of the plastic pieces only. No mounting straps or elastic/velcro or whatever it is that needs to be used. I would appreciate any input on what would be best to use. Thanks!
Picture to come soon!

I can help you out with that list Bill, I just bought it all for mine. (progress pics soon I promise...)

All this stuff is black unless noted otherwise..

need 2" wide nylon webbing. Enough for a belt for your waist and the T straps for the chest pieces. Probably 3 yards or so...

Need 1" wide webbing for attaching the hip boxes. 2 yards--which includes extra for mistakes.

Need 4 1" "parachute" clips--aka plastic snap in belt buckles.

Need 1 2" side Parachute clip for belt (goes in back)

Need 1" and 3/4 " braided elastic. Enough to do elbows, biceps, kneepads, sides of chest pieces, and under the shoulder bells if you want those to have additional support. I figure about 2 yards of each, and you'll probably have plenty left.

Industrial strength black velcro--heck I just bought a 25 foot box...always need velcro for something. Get the 2" wide stuff.

ABS Glue or your preferred glue for attaching velcro
Rivets and Rivet Gun
Black paint (for covering any rivets)
Black spray paint for tank topper
Grey spray paint for T Bits (or black...)

Zip ties to put hose on thermal detonator

Money clips (or some sort of clip thing...) to attach the thermal detonator to your belt.

A nice shopping list :D
