has anyone seen any other ref. images of this?

I know the CRL specs are done, but I was just curious if the bucket in the pic would be accepted... and is it me or is everything below the waist TK?

That's the Wizards of the Coast version, from their Rebellion Era Sourcebook. And the only appearance of that particular version of the Commando. The EU "rule of three" means this probably won't be a 501st-approvable costume, but if you want to tackle it, go ahead. :) I think at least two other folks on here are doing it, so they might have some insight.

This has no support anywhere in EU fiction, but I personally like to entertain the idea that this version, since it is so distinct from the other two, is General Madine's armour before he defected to the Rebellion -- or else his prototypical design (since there are silhouetes of two others in that pic) when he created the Commandos, before they evolved into the Mike Vilardi version.

-Smooth black boots. They should have no ornamental stitching or other adornment of any kind unless specified. If taller than ankle height they must be tucked under shin armor.

I had a question as far as boots go. I see it says something about if taller than ankle height they must be tucked under shin armor. But I thought we could wear boots like the white biker scouts as long as our boots are black and the white biker scouts are not tucked in.

Can someone please clarify and if you have pics of yourself in your costume please post also what is the size of the tube we need for the back.
Also I got black ABS plastic from a 501 member and I'm not sure if it's considered a black shadow scout or storm commando as I heard there are slight difference to the two.

Boots fashioned after the regular Biker Scouts in all black are still accepted as far as I know. At least those are the ones that I made.

Yep. There are two versions of Commando. One is exactly a black Biker Scout. You can use the Scout boot tutorials out there -- just with all-black materials. The original version is vaguely Scout-like, but almost entirely unique peices. The boots for this one are black TK chelsea boots (aka unpainted Stormtrooper boots) with hard wraparound greaves.

THANKS!!! Now I can't find a good pic but I need a pic of the back of a black scout as I am confuse on 2 things.
1. I have read on 501st board about commandos to have gray rank bars and than on another board I saw no rank bars

2. the tanks in the back, is plain are we suppose to keep it that way or use the same tank topper like white scouts???

When I'm doing the regular TX - it's what I call a stealth scout... and in that format, my costume is essentially a black biker scout - I use black biker boots, and my tank does have 4 rank bars on the right AND pinstripes in grey. It also has a tank topper with a thin red line painted on the top of the pivot switch. The right boot has a holster, and I carry a standard biker scout blaster.

When I do the commando scout, I use TK-style ankle length boots. The biker style boots do NOT work with any kind of shin armor (TK shins, Vader shins, or Jango style). Trust me, I've tried.
