Hey, gang!

Sorry I've been out of touch for a while, the real world made a rather horrible intrusion into the fun time.

Just a quick run down. I am currently working a 7 day week, with short weekends wedged inbetween. On my off days I was trying to spend as much time with my mother as possible. She just recently lost her battle with cancer.

I'm trying to get caught up on my backlog of stuff, so please bare with me.

Now, onto the lenses...

Lostdude, I got your paypal for a set, but I have to get some more material. It might take another week or so to get it and get the lenses cut. If you'd like, I can paypal you back you payment and you can resesnd it when they're ready. If you want me to just hang onto it, that'll work too. Just let me know.

Raijlin, I read about your troubles, let's see what we can come up with. You're stateside, aren't you? If so, it might be easier if you could PM a phone number where I can get ahold of you. I've got a couple of Ideas that might help

Txshifty and Janous, I'll have some sets of lenses here shortly. I'll put up a post when I get them ready to go.

Well, gotta get ready to head out for work. Hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas, and to coin a phrase, "God bless up everyone!"

cpt, your lenses are the best in the legion (to my knowledge) and I don't mind waiting for top notch work

best of luck with everything and PM me when you've got more material!

Honestly, I tried both methods that the Captain mentioned.

I attempted the hot glue by section method first. Didn't work. It didn't matter how much I let it dry, by the time I got to the inner eye portion where you had to bend the lense to get it to fit, it would pop off the opposite side. Even with a second set of hands, which was near impossible to try to get two people to work in that little area.

I then tried doing the second method that Captain mentioned which was to take a hair dryer and heat it up, then cool it to change the shape. I first attempted to do this on the inside portion (non-mirrored section) to no avail. Then I tried to add heat from the top, so that i could apply pressure down onto the lense and shape it into a straighter form.

This didn't work, and not only didn't it work, but damaged the mirrored finish similar to the way someone else did using an oven.

So at this point, I'm stuck with $30 of useless lense, and to be honest being a noob in the hobby and trying to find my way as best as possible, asking for guidance on how to build these things...I'm not happy.

If these lenses required someone to be "experienced" then maybe someone should put a disclaimer or something in there so that us "noobs" or novices to the hobby know our limits.

So just a caution to anyone else if they are looking at the lenses...they ARE beautiful but make sure you are familiar with installing these things because it is NOT easy by any means.
I had the same problem.

Been awhile gang, sorry about that. Had some issues come up.

Anyway, I ruined the set I bought. So for now I'm using mirrored window tint on some packaging plastic. Doesn't look too bad. Would like to have some actual lenses though.

I'd try the motorcycle helmet visor , but I wouldn't have any idea how to cut it, or means.

you need a dremul or borow one from a friend with atachments such as a havy duty cutting disk to cut out a ruff shape and a smoth sander atachment to sculped /shap it ..... If you still have the origonal lenses then ues them as a template and drour round them with a crayon so you now haw fare to sand them and so it can rub off fearly easy .

JUST TAKE YOUR TIME and remember sand check sand check little at a time

Lol, obvious advice. I'm surprised I never thought of that. I have a dremel and plenty of parts. Consider that visor on order. Thank you!

I started my kit last summer. I'm almost finished, but we had a house built and I had to put my kit on hold. Now we're all moved in and settled so I'm ready to jump back in and get this baby completed.
