I actually started doing this for C3, but that's also right about when I started grad school, so all of my time ended up going to school instead. I finished last October, and have been slowly getting back into costuming. All the pieces are sculpted -- right now I just need to find the time to crank everything out.

Anyhoo, here's a few pics detailing my progress. It's not very expansive -- I've left a lot of stuff out. I'll post more once I actually get everything uploaded. :) Once I finish landscaping my yard over the next month, I might actually try pulling the final master molds off of this.

So, that's where I'm at with this. I'm actually thinking that as long as I can avoid picking up any side contracts, and get my landscaping done before it snows (thus opening my garage up for stuff like this again), that I might actually have this done in the next few months.

I've already ordered enough silicone and gelcoating supplies (as well as red dye) to pop this out. The helmet will be fiberglass. I haven't decided if I'll vac the armor or keep that in fiberglass, too, just for the coolness factor. ;)

Looking good, nice work with all that.
Bondo jelly? Never heard of that, what do you use it for in the process of building a costume?
Nice work though, i actually really like the one with the TK aerators, nice touch. Good sculpting too! I work with clay a bit, love what you're doing.

I've seen Josh's work first-hand and this helmet is very impressive and he's done some great sculpting work on it. I'm glad to see you've picked up progress on it again and look forward to what you can do with this awesome costume.

Well, garage has finally started to warm up, so I dragged this old thing out again. Am making great progress -- will post pics soon.

Also moved my web hosting, so I need to get my last backup live so the pics I previously posted show up again.

It's always amazing going back to a forum and finding a thread I started over a year ago. The first thing I usually think is, "Wow. Ummm -- I should finish that someday."

Anyhoo, since the last time I posted here, my 8-month-old is now almost 2, and my little girl is in the gifted program in 2nd grade. I played Warcraft as a raid healer, hit Tier 6, and then started on the new expansion. I've also added a Java SCJP certification to my list of overqualified, under-utilized skills, and I was recently laid off about a month ago. LOL.

Sooooo...it seems the only time I can ever get anything done is when I'm unemployed. LOL. Don't worry -- I'll start looking for work again after Christmas. ;)

So you ask -- did I make any progress?

Helmet -- Done. Just needs a some silicone and love. And preferably that love will not come from a toddler poking his fingers into the goo.
Shoulders -- Mostly done. Needs the ornament arc on the bottom cut into it.
Chest -- I keep going back and forth on this. I liked the sculpt, then I hated it. Then I liked it again. Then I spent a lot of time finishing it. Then I hated it. Then I kept working on it, and I liked it again. And now, I don't like it anymore.
Forearms -- Mostly done. Needs a few more hours of sanding/patching.

Everything else -- it's sitting in a box somewhere. I'm not sure what to do about the bodysuit. The action figure just has a baggy undersuit. But in a picture I saw somewhere, and the SW Miniatures figure, it looks like a quilted Vader undersuit. Obviously, that would have the most panache, so I might eventually get around to making a friendly bodysuit with quilted areas where it counts.

I'll try to get a couple of pics up tonight. Am somewhat in the middle of something, and strolled by here purely by curiosity.

Ha! I know what you mean. Send me a link when you find one, okay?
