Being a newbie to the special ops/TX side of the game can someone explain the difference on these? I see them in the same section of the boards, as well as the obvious similarities in helmets/armor. Thanks! |

I am inclined to think that the only difference is that the Shadow Scout is just an action figure concept of the Storm Commando. Basically it is hasbro flexing their creative license.... in my humble opinion. - Bill |

If i remember correctly, it also looks like the shadow scout has a grey jump suit instead of a black one. |

It does on the figure--have grey jumpsuits instead of black, but it's strange because the pouches are black, and it has some straps going around the thighs also that are black. From the reference pictures though, they look 100% black for both. Interesting.. Thanks for the help! |

Like I said, Hasbro's take on "creative-license".... Hasbro isn't exactly a solid lead for any kind of reference for costuming, partly because they pretty much utilize their own interpretation to bring the figure to being. - Bill |

The Shadow Scout is what it sounds like -- a black (or darn close ot it) Scout Trooper. The Storm Commando is a unique getup that happens to have a couple Scout-inspired pieces (shoulders, knees, belt straps, cummerbund, helmet), but all modded at least slightly from the Scout template. The Shadow Scout was a Hasbro exclusive figure for the 2007 San Diego Comic Con, whilst the Storm Commando dates back to a 1993 supplement to the Star Wars role-playing game. --Jonah |

sounds to me that the Shadow Scout and Storm Commando would have different focuses and back grounds. Storm Commandos weere created specifically to counter Rebels correct? The Shadow Scout, i haven't heard any back story on (Bill?) but it sounds like the Shadow Scout would be more like an advanced re-con expert or something? |

I imagine the Shadow Scouts are either recon troopers attached to Blackhole or Carnor Jax, or else for situations where low visibility is more important than being fast (not much that's stealthy about a speeder bike, though...). The Commandos are covert ops, started and trained by Crix Madine before he defected to the Alliance. I imagine they have access to vehicles, but aren't intended to be mounted troops the way Scouts are. They're more the successors to the Republic Commandos. --Jonah |
