I finally managed to make it out to my first official 501st trooping event yesterday. The Space Center Houston was shooting a commercial and we were fortunate enough to be a part of it. I'm pretty stoked to not only be in a commercial, but to be able to represent our detachment. Luckily TK 8357's wife was there to take pictures of us.

Pics look awesome man! Helluva way to represent the detachment too :D

You said your first official 501st trooping event - Didja enjoy it? Have you been to other events suited up without the 501st too?

I saw a TX there and wondered if it was one of our guys. Way to represent!

That's the X-Wing I maintain for LFL, by the way. ;)

This was actually the second time I'd suited up, the first being C4 earlier this year. Both times I was surprised at the response from the kids, they really seemed to be enjoying the spectacle, asking all sorts of questions and examining the armor and hyperfirm blaster I'd brought. I looks like I'll be heading back there in Dec as well, which should be fun.

I should be getting a copy of the commercial eventually. If I can upload it to youtube or something, I'll post a link here so you guys can check it out. They were also nice enough to give us family passes to SCH, as well as a 10 dollar voucher for their space cafe there the day of the shooting.

Btw, COS_Vader, I'm not too familiar with the background on those x-wings, when you stated you maintain it, what all is involved in that, and where does that thing go when they're done with it?

It resides at Wing Over the Rockies Air Museum whenever it's not on tour. We have a group of about 20 folks that maintain it (fix it up whenever it comes back from getting broken). We work directly for Mary Franklin.

Sorry it's been so long since I'd last posted guys, but I'd hoped to have some decent footage to show by now. I have managed to catch the commercial on local area television a couple times, but that was just by luck, and not because anyone was able to actually tell me what channel or what time this was supposed to be on. I did catch it on two separate channels, so apparently this was a pretty big advertising campaign. You can check out a mini video on the Space Center Houston site here.

They were also advertising that the 501st were going to be there for a special one time only event on the 8th, just this last Saturday. Needless to say it was an awesome trooping event for all of us in the Star Garrison. We had members come out from all over Texas for this event and it pretty much felt like our own little SW celebration. The photographs were non stop and we were pretty much unable to walk two feet without getting stopped for a photo. We were told that there were something close to 4,000 people in attendance on the 8th, which is a pretty large amount for a venue like SPH. Unfortunately I did'nt sport the TX that day, as I was pretty anxious to debut my recently finished TK armor.

I'm the TK to the left next to the ARC trooper btw. There were a few members MIA for this photo for some reason. Trying to get all of us together that were there that day was apparently easier said than done.

First time on the floor and I could'nt make it past the elevator, so I pretty much camped there with a couple other troops for photos.

This is pretty much what the crowd looked like outside the elevator, awaiting the arrival of Vader.

Making our way through the crowd was no easy task either. Thanks to our leading officers for handling it superbly.
I'm the TK directly behind Vader to the left in case you're wondering. ;)
