EDDIE Nisevic has called for his Nuneaton Town team-mates to get in Exeter City’s faces on Saturday as they bid for FA Cup glory.
The 18-year-old has no fear of the League One side and he feels the rest of the Boro players must adopt the same approach in the first round clash at Liberty Way.
He said: “I think we can beat them. Why not?
“We’ve not got a lot to lose and they have coming from League One. We’ll have a great crowd behind us and that should give us the best support possible.
“We’ve got to give it a go and get at them. If we can get in their faces and show what we’re about then that should give them something to fear from us.”
The left sided player was in sparking form in the 6-0 FA Trophy win against Willenhall Town at the weekend and he feels part of the reason for that was a successful at loan spell at Shepshed Dynamo earlier in the season.
Nisevic says a month with former Atherstone Town manager Jimmy Ginnelly’s side was a massive help in making him ready to step into the boots of injured team-mate Simon Forsdick at left wing-back.
“I wanted to go out on loan. I thought it would be tough for me to get in the team with Fossy (Forsdick) there and playing well.
“The gaffer (Kevin Wilkin) asked if I wanted to go out for a while and I jumped at the chance.
“I don’t care what position I play so long as I can get a game. Going out on loan really helped me.
“It got me games and match fitness so I just want to thank Shepshed for helping me out. When I heard Fossy (Forsdick) got injured I felt bad for him but I saw it as my chance to get in the team and now I want to stay there.”
Should Nisevic retain his place for the visit of Exeter he will need to do far more defending than he was pressed into against Willenhall, but he is sure he is up to the task.
“I’m not sure if left wing-back is my best position or not. It involves attacking, which is where I think my strengths are, but it also means defending.
“I think I’ve got a bit about myself defensively and if I can use that to help the team then great.
“Left wing-back involves attacking and defending but I don’t mind that.
“I just want to help the team as much as I can. Stu (Pierpoint) is fantastic with me, he really helps me through games.”
Nisevic crowned off a fantastic performance against Willenhall with the goal of the season so far as he won the ball on halfway and waltzed past three defenders before slotting the ball under the keeper.
“I’ve been doing as much as I can to get back into the team so I was delighted just to play, the goal really topped it off. Lee Moore ran one way for me and Adam Walker went the other way. It just opened up the defence so I tried to attack the gap and luckily got the goal,” he said.
“It’s definitely my best goal in the first team,” he said.
