Whenever you take your feathered baby for a ride in the car. ALWAYS check its location when you open and close the door. A year ago, one of my grandbirds (Named Chaos) and I were riding along in the car. I stop and opened the door because I thought I had forgotten something. Chaos ALWAYS rode on the head rest on the passenger side and he would ALWAYS wait for me to say, "Come on baby" and then he would hop on my shoulder and we would exit the car together. When I opened the door, I realized I had not forgotten what I thought I had forgotten and I closed the door to proceed in driving. On this particular day, Chaos had left the headrest on the passenger side and had already crawled between the door so when I closed it, I closed my grand baby in the door. I had just viewed him on the headreast, but he had moved so quickly without my knowledge. There is not a word that can describe what I felt when I realized my little boy had been closed in the door. Chaos was my shadow, my conscience, my buddy, my heart. I regret being so careless that day. Now, that I have "Mohan Chicken Hawk" to follow me around, I locate him when entering and exiting the car. Once I open or close the door, I make sure I have my hands on him and do not release him until the door is closed. It was an honest mistake, but it is one that will haunt me forever.
