I decided to make another play stand so that (hopefully) it wouldn't get chewed up as fast. After weeks of the parts sitting in my basement my dad and I got around to finishing it. I used some vinyl coated shelving material for the base. I wanted my bird stand to be as secure as possible so we used a pvc shower drain as a base. We drilled screws with washers thru the grate: ![]() ![]() So I would be able to hang toys on the perches, we drilled holes in them and screwed stainless steel eyes thru them. ![]() ![]() ![]() I really wanted my bird stand to have a comfy perch on it so after brain storming for awhile we finally found a way to attach it. We drilled a hole in each cap: Then we screwed it onto the pvc pipe loosely so it could still turn so I could remove the comfy perch: ![]() I found some bird safe branches outside and cleaned them up and put them in the stand for varied perching surfaces. I twisted them in some threaded adaptors. After roughening up the pvc perches, I added the toys. Here are Lady and Daphne enjoying their new stand! ![]() ![]() ![]() I saved the remaing 2 1/2 feet of 1.5 inch pvc pipe, so I can add it on later and use my stand as a floor stand since I didn't glue it together. My birds and I are very happy at how it turned out.:) |

Good job!!
Looks like Daphne and Lady took to the stand quickly. Sorry to see the snow outside though. It was 92 here today (set a record). Almost too warm, too fast. |

Unfortunately, Bird_Lover lost the pics that were on the site they were using (server crash or something??), so a bunch of their pics no longer show. |

I got all of the pictures fixed! Yeah! I roughened the pvc perches with a dremel tool, but you could use sandpaper. On another forum someone recommended vetwrap, which is commonly used for bandaging horses, dogs, cats, etc. It would provide a non slip grip on the perches and it is self adhesive. My only concern is that it could be toxic if ingested. The perches are a bit slippery, so I'll need to do something to them. |
