I've had an idea. Every week I will post a conure for adoption from a rescue, along with its story, location, photo, etc. and maybe someone can meet a lifetime friend, or consider adopting a rescue.

Poppy
Bird ID: H2007003
Species: Conure
Sex: Female
Sub-Species: Green Cheek
Health Status: Healthy
Good with Kids: Unknown
Well Socialized: Unknown
Adoption status: Available

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hellooooooooooooo! I'm Poppy, a green cheek conure with a mysterious past. I was found at a shelter by a woman who was looking for her lost Senegal. She applied to adopt me, and after her Senegal came home, the shelter called to say she could adopt me too! Thing is, I'm a conure, and a lot less mellow than a Senegal or African Grey. So my constant conureness - action, talking, moving - combined with my GCC-ness (nicknames for our species include "little green hand grenade" and "Napoleons" because it doesn't matter that we're small, we expect to be In Charge!) - well, it all added up to mean that the lady just couldn't keep up with me in her more mellow life.
I definitely want other birds in my household know that I'm in charge, even if they're bigger than me (see the comment about Napoleon above!), so I would do best in a household where I'm the only bird or where noone is flighted - because if anyone comes over to see if I want to be friends, a battle may well ensue. I enjoy getting a lot of attention from humans though, although I can bite pretty hard if you're not paying attention. But that's pretty typical for a GCC too!

Still, GCCs can be lots of fun - we're full-sized parrot personalities packed into a cockatiel-sized body! If you'd like to know more about how you can make me part of your household, please email the conure coordinator (link is below) and let her know!

Taco
Animal: Bird
Breed: Conure
Sex: Male
Age: Adult
Size: Medium

Taco is a Red -Masked Conure that is looking for a home to call his own. He is a plucker, so he has no chest feathers and he has plucked his wings, but he is a sweet guy that would love to have a home with someone who can understand him. He is a pretty loud guy, and thus the reason he came into rescue, along with his owner not having much time with him. He came from a man that was keeping him in a garage first, then his next home had him, and now he is here. So his next home needs to be his forever home. He is only 5 yrs old. He says hello, loves to shower, and go for walks.

Opus
Animal: Bird
Breed: Conure
Sex:
Age: Adult
Size: Medium

Updated 24 March 2008
Opus has settled in nicely. He must be told repeatedly "No" when he tries to bite, but will stop. He then has let me pet his head and get a few of the feather sheaths removed. He is also trying new foods, and this is a great sign. Also, his screaming is only consistent when my U2, starts going. Opus chimes in happily, and makes for a truly loud experience.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Opus was surrendered and didn't seem too upset during the transition. Opus accepted my children and even bows his head down to be scritched. He seemed comfortable as he flew off his cage to the dresser and back again, then climbed up my daughter's arm. Opus took a tour of the house (not the bird's parlor until testing is clear) and was quite curious. Funny - when he got to the ground he followed my daughter and broke into a trot! He hasn't screamed, but will call to us in the house if he is left alone in the room. Opus ate some pellets and settled in for the night.

To approved applicants only. He is located at a foster home in Edison, NJ. He may not be used for breeding, and there is NO shipping.

If interested please review our adoption policies and procedures located on our site at:Policies

Antonio
Animal: Bird
Breed: Conure
Sex: Male
Age: Adult
Size: Small

ANTONIO is such a cute Sun Conure. He wasn't well when he arrived but he is thriving in foster care. He can be very loud at times but we do not consider his loudness a problem - just typical conure behavior. He is approximately 10 years old. If you are interested in adopting ANTONIO, please visit our website to review our adoption policies and procedures. Please do not e:mail us with questions until you have reviewed these policies and procedures. We do not ship our birds. Sharing current information and correcting misconceptions about parrots are the major aims of PEAC. We offer a wide variety of educational seminars & conferences. See our website for details. http://www.clevelandpeac.org. Thank you for taking the time to visit with us.

Animal: Bird
Breed: Conure
Sex:
Age: Young
Size: Medium
ID: luna

Please contact Ellen (ellen@beaksandnoses.org) for more information about this pet.

Please note that we only cover the 6 New England States both for surrender and adoption. also we do not adopt our birds to family's with cats or large dogs. some birds have high dander and are a great risk if you have allergy's in your home. They also require a lot of work, and need a lot of one on one time, including lots of out of cage time

luna and haley are a bonded pair and must be adopted together

If you feel you are interested in adopting this bird
from Beaks and Noses please fill out one of our applications and email back to me
the application can be found at
