WOW!!

I didn't realize that Sun's were that scarce. Does that 'Citation' date at the bottom (November 3, 2008) mean that they were just added to the list today?

A little late for posting, but...I'm not surprised they're now endangered. It's about time they were listed that way. Smuggling is such a HUUUUGE issue to this day. ONLY the US and Australia do not allow wild caught birds in their countries, but somehow we still get them. Australia is even getting random species from the US like Blue Jays turning up in their borders. There's like 12 border patrol agents for MILLIONS of people that go through the US/Mexico border yearly, and they don't have animal sniffing dogs. There are thousands of illegally trapped birds that come over our border daily...and without help there is NO WAY we can stop it...Flocking People! :angrysmiley:

The amount of Bird Mills we have here is sickening too. They go unchecked, unregulated, and unlicensed. There isn't any guidelines in the US as to HOW a bird should be housed and what it requires nutritionally. It's completely disturbing. I for one WILL NOT buy anything from Kaytee because they run the LARGEST bird mill in the United States. That's who gives Petco and Petsmart their birds... :CEN:

You know its funny... I got into an "online arguement" with this gal on another bird forum. I was saying how I have NO problem with being regulated/licensed and having permits for my birds, especially if I chose to breed & sell more. Ohhh this gal got so mad and gave every reason under the sun as to why she didn't want "random" inspections of her breeding facility. I say, if you've got nothing to hide, why worry???

There has to be more regulation... but the same will happen even if we need liceneses... the good owners will, the bad ones wont, just like dogs :(

Conure Crazed!!!!!!!!!
My sun conure is only endangered around my cinnamon green cheek. the green cheek gives my sun such a hard time. but then again the green cheek is only 3 1/2 months old compared to my 11 month old sun, so the baby is just testing the dominance boundaries... which are easy as my poor sun is part chicken!
