NO Boston Baked Beans; What NOT to feed your parrots

Discovered the hard way that Boston Baked Beans don't exit well from Parrots! :TROLL:

They've eaten all kinds of beans, but never any made with molasses. Apparently that is the atomic reaction necessary to allow my cockatiel to "blow" sticky brown beans all over my walls.

I'll be up on the ladder all day cleaning this one up.

No ill effects noted, but nuclear butt is not pretty! :SPANK:

If you should make this mistake, be warned to let the matter dry before cleaning. Dry beans will flake right off with a little fingernail scrape and then wash clean. Kind of like cockatiel poop on the sofa - DON'T TOUCH IT UNTIL IT DRIES!
(probably more information than you ever wanted but I believe in due diligence!)

from what I hear, molasses was used as a laxative in old home remedies. Still puts a whole new meaning to atomic farts!! :fear: :laughingonthefloor: :laughingonthefloor: :giggle:

What an intelligent topic. =P

Fourtunately, mine are suspicious of all mushy things....and if Petrie gets anything of this texture, he procedes to smear it all over his cage and surrounding walls, so I try to refrain from giving him these anyways.

My partner is quite the brainiac and told me about that while we were reading thru the posts. I don't particularly like molasses myself, but I'll take a good old fashioned shoo fly pie anytime!!!
