Patience! I've had Pete since last September and he is just now letting me cuddle and scritch him. I've been able to do that in his cage, but not when he is out with me. Something clicked this weekend ( I did give him a huge amount of personal time and attention) and he is totally and completely in love with me. Wahoo! |

Yes, some birds aren't very outgoing and take a little more time to be comfortable with you. Just stay paitent and work slowly and Briar will soon start to trust you more. |

I wonder if its a thing with Sun Conures ? My Sun conure Sunny , she loves attention , but she is scared a little when you reach inside the cage to bring her out . She will back away from you and go to the back of the cage . If you open the Door for awhile , she will come right out , and also once she is out she will crawl all over you and love you up , but inside the cage she doesnt want hands taking her out . It is weird if you ask me , because my Dusky will come right to you in the cage , and step up easily . He isnt afraid of people taking him out , Just Sunny . I wonder why she is comfortable getting handled outside of her cage , but inside she is a bit skeptical of hands taking her out . We were thinking its because we haven given her medicine since she saw the vet , for the Cold that Connie most likely gave her . We wonder if she associates getting medicine , with hands reaching in her cage . Maybe she always thinks we are gonna give her medicine , which i can tell ............ she truly hates . |

Maybe she does consider it with getting medicine. My fiery shouldered had to go on a course of antibiotics once, and I used a tropical-print bandanna/hankerchief type thing to take him out with. He is now afraid of that thing and screams in horror when he sees it. He isn't all that crazy about hands in his cage either. |

Yeah maybe she just isnt crazy about hands in her cage also . Like you had said about the Bandana/Hankerchief that he is afraid of now , i still think there is a slight chance she associates getting medicine with our hands . Cant be totally right about that though . I am hoping she will warm up to our hands in her cage a little more ! Although when she is out of the cage , she has no problems being handled , and is not afraid of our hands . She is pretty loveable . Maybe she just needs more time to warm up to us also , i keep forgetting we have only had her for about 3 weeks now . She is only about 12 weeks old also , so she just might still be a little timid . My dusky on the other hand , he is about 15 weeks old , and he is BRAVE . He loves hands in their cage . He is a little more outgoing then her . The crazy thing is i believe these 2 conures are completely BONDED already ! They just love each other 2 death ! I just hope later on in time they dont have eggs , because it will be a weird mix . Half Sun , half Dusky .... lol Sunny is a female sun , and Conrad is the Boy .
