Hello to conure lovers everywhere...I have two questions. 1...Is wild bird suet bad for conures...especially the ingredient rendered beef suet? 2....Also, I have read that sunflower seed is bad for domestic birds due to excess oils. Should we avoid sunflower seed? Thanx ...James

Welcome James... Yes, suit wouldn't be good for them... Its way to fatty and can lead to fatty liver disease. And the same goes for the sunflowers... try safflower or hemp seeds (my birds favorite!)

Welcome James.

A sunflower seed once in a while isn't too bad, but it's not something you'd want to feed any bird as it's main food. Actually, that goes for just about any seeds. I know Kahn (my Brown Throat) would live on safflower seeds if I let him.

Suet is mainly for wild birds during the winter so they can get fat and thus stay warm. Conures, being exotic and living in a climate-controlled house, wouldn't need it and it would be too fatty like the others have mentioned.
