I've had my Yellow-Sided Green Cheeked Conure for a couple weeks now, and she's already copying me and trying to learn new words and phrases, but I'm just wondering how long it will take for her "voice" and "whistling" to develop. I'm in no rush, but I wanted to know how long it took your birds to learn phrases. She can say "night night" at night, but it's not very understandable yet. She's also trying to learn how to whistle, and it seems like she gets frustrated when she can't quite make that tone perfect. I know she's trying; I hear her practicing all the time. How long did it take for your guys' birds to learn how to talk/whistle/etc.? |

When kermit started to talk it was not very clear neither, but it got better the more he said it. I found if a said words slowly he picked them up better, and now their is no stopping him, he has copied me sneezing, the relephone ringing. he has copied alot of the adverts on television, his favorite been "compare the market.com which he says all the time. He can say about 50 words and quite a few phrases and he whistles little tunes. So just keep repeating words slowly to her and before you know it she will be right little chatterbox |

Mine came talking, so I don't really know. I would say it's different for each bird, and depends on the amount of time you spend talking to them. Your GCC is a baby, right? When they're young they're easier to teach to speak. It sounds like she's getting off to a good start! |

Summer just barely does any talking. Kahn is a little better, but even his vocabulary is pretty small. I really don't remember how old either of them were when the first 'words' were said, although I'm pretty sure Kahn's first word was "SHUT-UP!!"..
