Hi everyone I'm new to this forum I'm here to learn as much as I can about peach fronted conures. I currently have one bird, she is a green cheek conure. She is 3 1/2 years old, I have had her since she was weaned. She is a real sweetheart! Lets me do what ever I want with her, and she is always ready to cuddle and will go to anybody. She is also very quiet. I have been thinking about getting a second bird, I have it narrowed down to 3, a peach front, a linnie, or a budgie. I found a local breeder who has one peach front that will be weaned in 2-3 weeks, and she also will have baby linnies in a couple of months. I'm just trying to find out as much as I can about the peach front and linnie cause I have no experience with them at all ( I had budgies a very long time ago). The qualities I'm looking for are playfulness, energetic, speaking potential, and of course cuddliness. I would love to hear about your peach front conures. Anything you share will be greatly appreciated! Thanks |

Welcome Michelle (shell).. I had a Peach Front about 15 years ago for a couple years. She (I assumed she was a she anyway) was a quiet Conure compared to what I'm used to (Sun). I don't know how old she was, but she was a sweet little thing. She didn't talk at all. She also wasn't really playful, although she loved her scratches. It's been so long since I had her that I can't really remember that much. Plus, I didn't have her for that long either. There's a couple members here that currently have PFC's, so hopefully they can tell you a bit more about them. |

I have heard that Peach Fronts are great birds ! There are a at least 2 people on this site that have them , and from what they tell us , they are good birds . If i were you , i would go for a 2nd conure ( The peach front ) . Then you can house the 2 of yours together , your green cheek , and the new baby peach front . I bet they will take to each other easily !! My 2 conures did. Again this is just my opinion , but if i were you i would scoop a baby peach front right up , especially from a breeder . You know you are gonna get a well socialized / good bird from a reputable breeder ! |

Lucky you, considering a Peachy! If I were you, I'd snap that baby right up... though, I am a bit Biased. I think they're beautiful birds, even more so than a Sun conure (But shh, don't tell SunDance!) And from what I've seen from people who own them, and members on this forum, they're great birds. Plus, I agree! If you have two conures they might get along pretty well, and you may be able to house them together, which would save you some room ![]() Though, any way you go, good luck! |

Hi guys, nice to meet you Thanks for the replies. I'm still thinking about it although earlier this morning I thought I wanted to go with the linnie and even emailed the breeder about it. All the info out there says how great and perfect they are then when you read the posts on the linnie forum its all about how they are biting, possesive and extremely clingy some needed to get a second linnie to keep them content! The reason I wanted a linni is because they have good potential for talking, I miss having a talking bird around, my GCC doesn't talk at all although she is always sweet and even tempered. So I'm still thinking about it. I appreciate the advice

I think linnies are cool birds , but i believe conures have bigger personalities ( Although you are correct that most conures are not BIG talkers ! ) . Proper training , and you can turn your conure into a talker . Again some birds are different , and will not develop great skills in talking . My opinion : ( Believe me , its not worth much .... haha lol ) i would go with the peach front , only because i love the way they look , and i am a little biased towards conures over other birds . What can i say , i am just a Conure lover . Again , best thing for you to do is to choose the bird that will make you most happy with your choice . Good luck to you !!

I forgot to ask, do peach fronts have the bigger bird personality? I wouldn't classify my Green cheek as that. She acts more like a cockatiel. She is not very playful or active. But she loves to cuddle Are peach fronts more like green cheeks or are they more like a sun conure in personality?

Since I've never had a Green Cheek, I can't really answer that. I know my Peach Front was more like my Maroon Bellied Conure than my Sun, meaning not as playful as my Sun. Still, she (Peach Front) was the sweetest of the 4 different types of Conures I've had. That doesn't necessarily mean all PF's aren't playful though. |
