Does anybody have any idea how to make a preening toy for my little Max? I read somewhere that it could help soothe a feather plucker during transitions and stressful times. I kind of have an idea of how, but don't know what kind of products would be safe and suitable. My poor little nut-head has been through quite a bit in the last couple of weeks, and I want to help him calm down and feel good!!
Also, I was reading on here about homemade toys (everybody here ROCKS!!! I love the economical aspect!!) What kind of paints would be suitable, I don't think color matters too much to the birdies, but I want them pretty.....or should I soak the untreated wood in food coloring for color? And is there anything special I need to do to the wood before I let them chew away? I thought toys were expensive for one feathered friend, now I have two......I hope I don't run across another one that needs a home, I don't think I could say no... :parrot: :lovie:

Its just strips of fleece tied together. Fleece is usually pretty well prices at fabric stores, and you can also use it to make a cozy hut :)

as for the wood... i wouldnt use any paint, just use food coloring as you said :)
