Just so I know that I am doing the right thing...can I give Max the same macaw pellets I give Eva or should I stick to something specifically for conures? I need to buy him some pellets later this week and want to make sure that I am not going to affect his health. All of my research went into macaws (I knew I was getting one and spent ages researching them) and was blindsided by my beautiful new conure. BTW, he makes some of the most bizarre noises... :buggy:

I am sure Macaw pellets wont hurt Max , but i would go with Zupreem pellets ( Avian Maintenance Natural Flavor ) and you can mix in Zupreem fruit flavor too .

My birds love those 2 !

I can't remember what kind macaw pellets I use...Petco here just recently redid their inventory and got rid of the ones I was using and Eva really liked--they just don't have the right size for her anymore. Either too big or too small--I went with too big. Her pellets I bring home and transfer to an airtight rubbermaid cereal container and keep it below the table her cage sits on. I have a new one I can use for Max's pellets if I have to have separate conure food. I think her pellets are Kaytee? I plan on getting nutriberries as soon as I can afford them. Divorcing full time college student mom of three with now 7 pets---I'm broke!!! :confuse:

You can actually buy Zupreem pellets that are "Conure" size , and you can also feed them to your Hahns also . They can be consumed by pretty much any birds , it is usually just the size of the food that is different .

Nutri-Berries are great for birds . My 2 birds love them , and i usually give them each like 4 - 6 of those a day mixed in with their daily diet . ( Veggies & Fruits too ) .

I know what it is like to be Broke in this economy :) , Who isnt struggling right now ? Unless you are rich .. ( I wish )

Conure Crazed!!!!!!!!!
I feed mine a daily diet of Zupreem fruit pellets for parrots and conures (1 dish-love the bananas) Zupreem avian entrees for parrots harvest and spicey mixed (2nd dish-Absolute favorite!!!!) safflower plus for cockatiels mixed with kaytee exact pellets-which they hate (3rd dish-we pick out all the seeds and throw the pellets all over the floor!)

Treats:
- Anna's soaked bean mix (the cockatiels love the sprouted split peas)
- THAWED frozen mixed berries (squishy black berries are the best for flinging all over!!)
- mixed veggies.... frozen and fresh
- cooked rice and or barley (mixed with beans and veggies)
- compressed alfalfa or timothy hay blocks originally for the guinea pigs and bunny, but the conures LOVE THEM!!!

Bribes: (when it's night night time and I need to round everyone up and chase them back into the cage!)

Warning...... These have been known to cause fights with multiple birds........

-Nutriberries (love the tropical fruit)
-plain popcorn popped in brown paper bag (they know what's coming when they see or hear the bag)
