Character Name: Andreea Serge Aliases: de fantomã, (the ghost) or bambino (her Sire's pet name for her, It is an Italian word meaning youngling) Gender: Female Age: 18 Age of Embrace: 18 Place of Birth: Transylvania, Romania Place of Embrace: Rome, Italy Species: Vampire Clan: Tzimisce Sect: Autarkis Sire: Dr. Valance M. Segrè II Disciplines [+ Levels]: Animalism (1) Appearance: Andreea Serge is a very attractive young girl. She has very long crimson hair, big, very beautiful venom green eyes, long black eyelashes, thin arched eyebrows, very pale skin, full blood red lips, high cheek bones, an oval shaped face and extremely white teeth. Andreea stands at about 5’9, she has a small frame, but she is slightly muscled and very generously curved, a very slim waist, smooth hips, and long very feminine legs. At first glance she almost seems to be angelic, purely innocent however this is not the case. One look in to her eyes and you will see the beast with her. Her accent is strange, a mix between a thick Romanian one closely resembling the stereotypical ‘Dracula’ and an equally thick Italian accent. Her accents also seem to switch off, one night she might have a flawless Italian accent and the next night she might have a Romanian one or even a mix of both. Personality: Andreea lives up to the title that her name translates in to, warrior. Though she may seem to act as the shy, timid type, she is a Tzimisce at heart and of mindset, for the most part. She prefers solitude over company and like her brethren will defend her territory at all costs. She has a fickle temper at best, a psychotic and murderous one at worst, which since her Sire disappearance hasn't been under much control... She can be as friendly as a rogue wolf, as warm hearted as Hades, and about as much as a conformist as an Anarch... But she is true to her word to a fault. She holds her honor above her very existence and would sooner condemn herself to destruction then betray anyone she considers her ' kin'. Unless you cross her, then all bets are off. She doesn't suffer fools but she is always fair, to some extent at least. She is normally quiet but is very unpredictable. She has a very twisted outlook on the world but a logical one none the less. Rest assured she is completely sane. Despite the arguments of many so called experts... Though she can seem to read others very easily, Andreea is as fathomless as a concrete wall. Her emotions are kind of like the cookie cutter shark, you may have heard of them but no one has ever really seen them.... History: Andreea Segrè is a person that is almost with out a past. Andreea was born an orphan but was never adopted. She never played with the other children, nor did she speak to them. She never went with them to church, or on outings. She kept to herself but she never caused any trouble either so no one really suspected anything. Until it was noticed that Andreea at the age of 15 had disappeared. The orphanage looked for her but were unsuccessful, other search parties tried to help but no such luck. Until a year later when she was seen again. But not as a child but as a criminal master mind. In her homeland she became a well known thief. Her name to the locals was de fantomã , or the ghost. And she was in fact a ghost, so to speak. She would enter a house or really anywhere, take what she wanted and leave with out a trace. Most of her victims didn't know that they had been robbed. Sometimes they wouldn't know until weeks later, making it impossible for the authorities to do anything at all. She stole anything she could and sold them on the street to unknowing tourists. Unfortunately for the authorities, they could never catch her or pin anything on her. It is not known why Andreea at age 17 left her home land and moved to Italy but she did and started a new life for about a year. Until the unexpected happened.... A vampire by the name of Dr. Valance M. Segrè II lived very near to where Andreea was. He was a relatively old vampire about a few years short of 500. He had also been born and raised in Rome, Italy. He was a typical Tzimisce, but was extremely picky about choosing a childe, even by Tzimisce standards, in his 500 years he had never Sired a childe, ever. Valance in appearance was a sight to see, not that he was easy to miss by any means. He stood at about 6 foot 8, he weighed in at roughly 200 or more pounds, very skeletal , long straight black hair, which was always neatly tied back, pale skin and hard, cold royal blue eyes and a harsh scowl. His eyes only softened and he only smiled slightly towards Andreea, after her embrace. He otherwise hated pretty much everybody. One night he decided that he wanted another mortal for his beloved experiments. A young virgin woman with red hair, green eyes and very pale skin. Simply because he liked the color green, and he claimed that their flesh was easy to work with and red hair was usually much softer in texture than any other color. He sent out one of his ghouls to find a young woman fitting that description. It should have been enough, He had thought, and how strong could one woman be? The ghoul searched and came across Andreea. It broke in to her home and tired to subdue her. It however, failed. Andreea grabbed an axe, killed it by chopping off its head and burning it's remains separately for good measure. Valance grew irritated by his ghoul’s slowness. After 3 days he came across the thought that maybe his ghoul had failed.... but his ghouls had never failed him before.... So he waited one more night. Finally, Valance roamed the city to find out what was happened to his ghoul and came across Andreea's home. He smelled death and blood. He knew his ghoul had died here. Had this woman really killed his ghoul, even as weak as it was? She sat on an overstuffed arm chair, asleep and a blood stained ax by her side. The blood was very dark. It was all the evidence Valance needed. Valance now knew what happened to his ghoul. But it was just ridiculous! He had really lost a ghoul to this mortal woman! A weak, stupid and utterly pathetic ghoul, but a ghoul none the less. He was impressed though. This woman was strong and cunning. She would make a strong Vampire, he decided. He would meet this woman in person. And soon. He returned home and sent out his most physically acceptable ghoul, Boris, who as a mortal man had been a gift to Valance from his Sire many years ago, with a written invitation to his domain for this woman. This time he was not disappointed when his ghoul came back that night with the woman in tow. “Ah, there you are. I’ve been trying to get you to come here for days, but sadly I don’t think any of my invitations have gotten through…” “It was you whom sent that creature?!” Her green eyes flashed viciously. Valance smiled inwardly, ‘Was this little mortal going to kill him too?’ “Alas, yes. But only to escort you here. Boris, please take our guests coat will you?” “Forgive me Miss, I have forgotten my manners, I am Dr. Valance M. Segrè II.” He bowed in a very old fashioned way. “I am Andreea.” “Do you have a surname?” “No.” “Andreea... that is Romanian yes?” “Yes.” “From your name and accent I would gather you are from Romania?” “I am.” “Please come; let us continue this conversation in a more comfortable setting." He led her in to a strange parlor looking room. "Please have a seat but be careful, the chair in the corner isn’t very friendly, It tends to bleed too.’ Andreea gave him a strange look. “Miss Andreea, I invite you here to discuss something of great importance. You have killed one of my ghouls. An impressive feat by the way. And I am looking for a worthy mortal to carry on my bloodline…” “If you are looking for some whore to birth you a child, I suggest you look else were. I’ll have no part in that!” Valance chuckled, like she could resist his power! He could kill her with a thought or really do anything he wanted with her... but he wouldn't tell her that, “No, no, no. You misunderstand me. I have no desire upon your flesh nor any others. You have impressed me with your ability to defend yourself. I want you alone to carry on my blood line.” Andreea shook her head, “I don’t follow…” “Hmmm, perhaps I am being too vague; I am looking for a child Miss Andreea, not a mortal babe, but a Vampire's Childe.” “A... Vampire?” She didn’t recognize the word, he realized. “Oh, so sorry, you would call it...Nosferatu.” That word she did recognize, it was the Romanian word meaning undead… Vampire. “You are not serious! Such things do not exist!” “Ah, but they do! I should know! I am one.” Valance smiled showing his fangs. “Do not be frightened, I will not harm you, for now, it is only my wish that you will join me.” “Join you?” She was handling this remarkably well... She didn't seem panicked, thought he was insane maybe, but she wasn't running. He so hated to chase after his food like a savage. “Yes, as my childe, I will be your Sire, I will teach you how to live as I do, and you will carry on my bloodline as my kin.” “Say yes, Andreea and I promise you, you will never again be bothered by petty mortal things, you will never grow old nor will you die as mortals do, you will be above them.” He'd kill her if she said no, or better yet make her in to a nice lamp. But he didn't tell her that either. That seemed to appeal to her very much.... “Then I will join you, Vampire.” “A very wise choice." Valance embraced her immediately. Since Andreea was his first childe he guarded her as he would his territory, with an unmatched ruthless and fierce passion. He rarely allowed Andreea out of his sight, and if she was not being watched by him she was being watched and protected by his ghouls. When Andreea revealed that she could play the violin, Valance encouraged her to play it for him. He seemed to enjoy listening to her play the instrument, even more so when she played a song by Elvis, who Valance was a secret fan of. His taste in music rubbed off on Andreea, the two of them spent hours listening to Elvis' voice. Valance also taught her many things, math and science mostly, but many other things too, history of the world, a little of the fine arts, how to speak Italian, French and English, as well as her Disciplines. Andreea was eager to learn all she could from her Sire. Books that had once been denied to her soon became her most prized possessions. She spent hours reading the books her Sire gave her. Textbooks, novels, mystery, romance, historic, horror, fantasy, poetry, myths and lore of faraway lands. She loved them all. Her favorites though were the Iliad, the Odyssey, Edgar Allen Poe's poetry, (ironically) Vampire horror and romance, and one Grim stories book, which held her favorite rhyme, 'The Spider and the fly'. Andreea also shared her Sire's deep passion for science, something Valance took great pride in. He even purchased Andreea her own set of beakers, scalpels, a microscope, and all manner of things to aid her in her work. (Dr. Valance M. Serge II recalling Andreea's first experiment as written in his private notes) "It is always a pleasure to meet a fellow man who shares my passion for science... but my greatest pleasure was when I found that my own childe was even more passionate in it then myself." “She watched me perform my experiments with complete fascination and a particular gleam in her eyes that must have mirrored my own when I was her age... Even if I live for 500 years more, I shall never forget the look in her eyes when I first handed her the scalpel... It was a look of sheer wonder and joy. Nor shall I forget how badly her hands shook from her excitement! She could barely hold the scalpel! How I wish my own Sire could have seen my childe on that night... He would have no doubt been even prouder of her than I was at her enthusiasm." "But the first test she ran on her very first ' lab rat' as she so calls it was a simple and small experiment. She wondered what would happen if she injected large amounts of ghouls blood in to a mortal. Would it kill the rat? Or would it make it a ghoul too? She chose the later as her hypothesis. It seemed utterly pointless to me, but it meant so much to her. I saw no harm in it, so I allowed her to try. She collected a sample of the rat’s blood for a control group, as I had taught her to do. She observed it under the microscope, and scribbling down notes, now and again." "She took a sample of blood from one of my ghouls, and did the same thing. After a night or so she was ready to test her theory. It took a lot of ghouls blood to reach the amount she had decided on, (7 gallons), before she injected it all in to the rat. After a little while she took the sample of the ghoul’s blood, the old human sample, and the new human sample before she reached her conclusion. Her experiment was successful! The rat was now a ghoul. She was very proud of her success... and who was I to tell her differently? So I kept my opinion to myself, and congratulated her on her first success." "Since then she has left most of the choosing of experiments up to me. Though I still think her first experiment was pointless... It was still a delight to see her working so diligently towards a goal. She will make a fine Tzimisce someday, and I know she will do something great to better our kind. I just know she will. And on that said day when ever it may come, I know that there will never be a prouder Sire than I." "Mia bambino also seems to be hopelessly fascinated with the cattle who go insane during the experiments, she's been borrowing my psychology books a lot as well... though I don't think she understands what she is reading... perhaps I should bring her a copy of her own, one that she may understand a bit better..." When it came to their taste in furniture however... that was another story. While her Sire insisted they use all of the remains, Andreea complained that she detested the feel of human skin. That the hair attracted lice and moths and that the flesh attracted rats, flies and worse still the dreaded beetles. She preferred to use the bone and the bones alone for more pleasant appearance. Valance and Andreea had many heated discussions over this topic. However Valance was never able to change Andreea’s mind nor was he able to argue the fact that the rotting flesh attracted uninvited guests of the crawling sort. Nor could he get her to make living furniture with him or get her anywhere near it. Many arguments started on that topic as well. Although she could never bring herself to getting rid of that bleeding chair.... (Quoted) Valance: " I do not see why you will not partake in this!" Referring to the live mortal about to be made in to a very lovely coffee table. Andreea: "The same reason why I will not use the flesh and hair of the others." Valance: "You are a Tzimisce! I'll not have you shame the good blood of Caine over something so petty!" Andreea: "I am very well aware of my blood line! And I do not shame the blood of Caine... But I refuse to waste a perfectly good lab rat for something so materialistic!" Valance: (silent, then grins) Andreea: "What?" Valance: "Nothing, bambino. Nothing at all." For some time Andreea had been happy, until she first discovered her danger sense. A looming sense of doom she knew concerned her Sire. Fearful of what might happen she rarely left his side. It was only a day or so later that the sense became stronger... and she knew that whatever doom there was would happen a little less than a month after her embrace. Andreea pleaded with her Sire to stay in that night. She told him of her sense. But he had waved it away thinking that it was only the doom of their new victim below them, that Andreea sensed. "Bambino," he had shaken his head at her, "There is nothing for you to be worried about. I am hunting in a place I know very well. That is all you need to know. I will be home soon, and I assure you no harm will come to me while I am out." "Can't you just stop being so thick headed for once and listen to me?" He turned on her, "You take a different tone with me now, childe! You do not question my word! I created you and I can destroy you just as easily!" "Sire, please stay. It is not safe! Something bad is going to happen tonight! I can feel it!" "Bambino, I am not debating this with you! If you are so worried, wait for me in the parlor. But I promise you, your sense of doom is nothing more than that of the new cattel. There is no danger. " "Then let me come with you!" "No bambino. You will stay home. My hunting grounds are no place for a childe to be." "And no place for you to be either...." "Bambino! I am hunting alone and that is final! This not up for argument." "Sire! Please listen! The sense of doom it comes from you! I know it does! I can feel it! It is so strong. Please Sire stay home!" "Enough! I will not discuss this with you anymore!" He shoved her in to the parlor. “Stay here. I will be back shortly.” Valance stormed out of the house and left with Andreea still calling after him and begging him to stay. He hadn't listened to a word she said and Andreea feared the worse. Valance never returned from his hunt. Nor has he been seen or heard from since. Andreea was temporarily rendered helpless by the sudden loss of her beloved Sire. She waited for his return for several weeks after his disappearance, never leaving his lair. She nearly killed herself by not feeding. Eventually Andreea lost hope that Valance would ever return. Grief stricken Andreea packed her things, as well as several pictures of her Sire, an old cloak of his, her coffin lined with dirt from Romania and Italy, her violin, her skull mug, and her books. Andreea settled down in the outskirts of Paris France, unwilling to travel any farther. She has little hope of ever seeing her Sire again and believes that he has met his final death do to the fact that the sense of doom she had felt grew increasingly stronger and then simply vanished only an hour after her Sire had left. Also due to the fact of how strangely his ghouls had been acting when her Sire had not returned. Notes: Andreea is of the 13th generation. Also, Andreea has never truly met another member of her own clan besides her Sire. Valance was ridiculously isolated for reasons of his own. She knows very little about The Tzimisce clan, and currently she has no desire to meet her other brethren, though she may have to if she is to survive. --Nature & Demeanor: Nature: Rogue Demeanor: Loner --Humanity [+ Rating]: 5 --Assets / Liquidated Worth: Andreea is unemployed. --Notable Weaponry: Andreea does not carry any weapons. --Merits: - Iron will(3pt) - Cat like balance(1pt) - Danger sense(2pt) --Flaws: - Emotional Isolated (1pt. flaw) - Privacy Obsession (3pt Flaw) - Territorial --Derangement(s): none --Languages: Romanian, English, Italian, French --Motivations & Depredations: Quote: "Will you walk into my parlor?" said the spider to the fly;"'Tis the prettiest little parlor that ever you may spy. The way into my parlor is up a winding stair, And I have many curious things to show when you are there." I'm so sorry I took so long to respond to your character sheet. Anyway, she seems like a good Tzimisce and I enjoyed reading the interaction between her and her Sire, particularly the part about differing opinions on living furniture. There are just a couple of gaps in the story early on that I'd like you to address, which I expect you skipped over just to get the ball rolling on completing the story. First of all, the was her childhood. It's only a minor thing, but you never explained the reason behind her isolation from the other orphaned children. Is it a subconscious issue? Did something happen to her early on before her memory developed that would have caused such emotional indifference? And what was her motivation for running away at such a young age? What did she do after she left? Where did she go? I would imagine she must have spent some time living on the street. What was that like? More importantly, I'd like to know how on Earth she became such an adept cat burglar so quickly. Where did she develop those skills? You don't reference any kind of teacher or companions that could have helped her, so there must have been quite a significant period of trial and error before she was able to successfully rob someone's home without being caught - especially in these days of burglar alarms, security screens, surveillance cameras, fingerprinting, and so on. The other major part of her history is where she kills her Sire's Ghoul. Even a young, relatively weak Ghoul could snap her neck like a twig. What exactly happened? I'd like to see that event described in some detail. How did the Ghoul come across her? Did she detect that she was being followed? How did she manage to get the drop on it? Was there a struggle? Had she managed to lure it into some kind of trap? Did she try to catch or interrogate it? Did she struggle with the act of murdering a seemingly conscious, human individual? Finally, while I like the excerpt from her Sire's journal, the description of things such as a look of "sheer wonder and joy" in her eyes and how her hands "shook from her excitement" seem somewhat inconsistent with the apparently indifferent, distant individual you described her to be in the earlier parts of the story, and I'd like to see how you reconcile the description in that part of the story with her personality as you described it. You also mention that she can play the violin. How did she learn this? Is she self-taught, or what? The one other thing I can see that I must comment on is that you seem to have her learning three complete languages from scratch within a very limited time frame, among other important subjects such as the scientific method, literature and vampiric lore, et al. I would suggest you limit this to, at most, one (very pidgin) secondary language, and/or maybe one other if you write in that she learned it throughout her schooling. Anyway, this time I think you have a solid, well-rounded character. Just address the above-mentioned concerns, and I think she'll make a fine addition to the board. And again, I'm so, so sorry for the lengthy wait. |
