‘No’ I scream myself awake. I sit quaking in my skin. Material bunched in my hands. I’m staring about, wide eyed trying to find IT. For what? I knew so well just like a moment a go. My memory falters just like smoke does in the gentle breeze. I catch myself in the mirror. Eyes wide, hair lank and greasy, stuck to my face and neck. Skin pale and clammy looking, I looked like death warmed up.

I let my exhausted body fall backwards, the bed catching me. I only hope I don’t have weird dreams again.

Arms slowly wrap themselves around my waist. Lovingly gentle, a male scent encases me in a wall of safety, coercing me to relax, that nothing was out of the ordinary.

I breath deep. I knew this scent well. I didn’t need to see the body to know who he was. That he was with me in the never ending darkness.

I felt fur brushing my leg, another welcome friend. Both beings sorely missed. I breathed deep, feeling the love I had for them both entering every single cell of my body. The ones that keep my feet on this path.

Air filled every nook and cranny of my lungs. After days of aching it felt good to breath freely.

‘There you go my love’ a softly spoken male voice entered my ears. ‘all is well you’ll see’

I roll over on my side, my arms searching for him. The realm of dreams blurring with reality. Baz I whisper.

Longing enters me, leaving a bitter taste in my mouth.
Longing to be back home.
Longing to see my room, the cats, my house mates
Longing to see Baz. Nothing more. I am a realist. Who knows what has happened since I last saw him. We both have changed. But just to see him. Just to see those black eyes of his. My Baztard alive and well.

Tears fall silently down my face. Perhaps one day I can return. Perhaps.
