That sounds like the best thing to take away from it. Fantasy is seductive because in our minds we can give ourselves anything we want, things we could never have in real life. But sometimes it gets out of control. I was very obsessed with a girl in college, and once after she graduated, I prayed to God (actually out loud) that I could just see her again... the NEXT DAY I found out she was going to be coming back to work at the same campus I would be transferring to. What came of it? Well, I saw her again quite a few times (as friends), and joined some of the same groups and activities as her, but it was still just a very unhealthy obsessive relationship. I still felt unloved and alone, pining away for someone that didn't have any feelings for me, and eventually she met some guy, got married and moved away. Did God answer my prayer? I have no idea, because I really don't see what positive thing came out of it. It seemed to just make my obsession take longer to get over. I've since lost my faith, due to lots of other reasons. If God exists, I really don't have many positive things to say about him/her/it. Anyway, just go and live your life. Everyone here has crushes on celebrities or people they will never have. Don't pass up real opportunities because you let fantasies get in the way. |
