I was just wondering which events everyone prefers attending -- exhibitions or competitions. At "Skate for Hope," I happened to be seated beside an avid skating fan, who told me that while she used to prefer exhibition-type shows, she now favours competitions. For my part, I think I'm still leaning toward exhibitions. I love the colourful, dramatic lighting, the showier aspects, and the generally positive mood. Competitions, at least from what I've seen on YouTube, and from what I remember of watching skating at past Olympics, seem to be much more tense affairs. The lighting is a general white, like that of a hockey game, and a bit cold. Plus, if one has a favourite skater, wouldn't it be devasating to watch them perform and receive unfair marks? So I'm just wondering which shows other fans prefer -- the colourful, convivial exhibitions, or the greater intensity of compeitions? |
