Emily has three upcoming live performances of which I'm aware, and I hope to attend at least one of them. "Skate for Hope" on Aug. 30 2008, 5 P.M., at the Nationwide Arena Columbus, OH. http://skateforhope.org/ "U.S. & World Champions Live" on Sept. 6 2008, in Arlington, VA: http://www.michaelweiss.org/index.shtml and "Skating for Life" on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. at Bloomington’s U.S. Cellular Coliseum. http://www.emilyhughes.com/pages/articles_news/1/101 Apparently, the latter will be taped and televised on NBC on October 25 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. I look foward to watching it. I hope to attend at least one of the events in person. |

Nice! Skate for Hope seems so tempting! Columbus isn't even that far from Pittsburgh... but I've just got to save every penny for Nationals. Rachael, Emily and Alissa should be at Nationals at least.

U.S. & World Champions Live" on Sept. 6 2008, in Arlington, VA: http://www.michaelweiss.org/index.shtml Emily will not be skating in this event. It's reported that she is injured. The nature of injury not known. An injury might explain why she was having trouble with her jumps at Skate for Hope. Let's see if she recovers in time for Mid Atlantics. It's really an important event for her; not winning it but putting her program out there for the monitors to evaluate. Get well soon Em. Edited by svengaliesque, Sep 2 2008, 12:58 PM.

I suppose an injury is possible, but I was never sure if she was going to attend the Michael Weiss event, because it was never actually listed on her official Web site. For some time now, her "events" page has listed two shows: "Skate for Hope" and "Skating for Life." So although she was temporarily listed at the Michael Weiss site, perhaps her attendance was always a "maybe." http://www.emilyhughes.com/events.php At any rate, I'm very happy she appeared at "Skate for Hope." I'm tempted to go to "Skating for Life," but that's a 9-hour drive (!), so I may have to miss it. At least it will be televised, though. so we'll all get to see the show anyway.
