I was delighted to see Emily on Rachel Ray this morning, and a video of her on the show is now on YouTube. Not only it is in much better quality than the old clip on the RR site, but it also includes extra "business" involving Emily that took place on the show after the commercial break. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViNJu5cl0DY&fmt=18 I've always really enjoyed this appearance by Emily, and I'm glad it was repeated. She looks so cute here, so very pretty (although I do prefer her hair longer). She's very natural and genuine in front of the camera -- a perfect figure-skating spokesperson. (If you've ever heard other famous figure skaters stutter and butcher their words in front of the camera, you'll know what I mean, and appreciate Emily's telegenic nature.) I especially love what she says about enjoying baking, and enjoying eating what she bakes. She expresses a real love of food in this clip, and that is such an important message for a figure skater to put out there. Hopefully, young girls seeking to emulate Emily's success on the ice, or even those who simply admire her as a role model, will take this as a cue that they don't need to starve themselves into anorexia, or have a complex about weight, but can just eat normally and enjoy themselves. Great clip. |
