Has Emily maxed out her potential?

Okay. This is an attempt to jump start the board a little bit. There was a link to an article in the 2010 Olympics prediction thread where the author believed Emily had gone as far as she could and given time off/school schedule and injuries would not be able to ever be a national champion or step onto a podium in the Olympics. My question is: Do you agree with that notion? For a while, I didn't think I agreed with it...but now it seems less and less likely that Em will be able reach that next level. I'd love for that feeling to be wrong.

Thoughts?

Well, it all depends on potential for what. If you mean potential for competition, I think it's an either/or for Emily between school and skating. And I don't blame her. When I was doing my undergrad, there's no way that I could have held on to a part-time job and still performed as well as I wanted to (and competitive skating is surely at least as time-consuming as a part-time job, and probably much more so).

So if she wants to go for championships, I think she'd need to put school in hiatus for a bit.

Personally, I would simply love to see her skate more -- in any circumstances (more shows, exhibitions, anything that gets her on the ice, and hopefully before the TV cameras).
