^^ Me too. And I love her energy. She really lights up the arena when she skates. Her short program at Nationals was the skate of the night! |

Positive Spirit + Beauty + "All-Out" Skating Style. Sasha Cohen used to be my favorite, for her unbelievable elegance on the ice, but she was always kind of a diva, and also self-centered (sorry if that offends anyone, but as a Sasha fan I have to admit those things.) I mean, that's not completely unusual I guess, and I still love Sasha and hope she does well in the future. But Emily has such a pure spirit, it's impossible to not love her. Well, at least you would think that, but there's plenty of people at places like MKF that will tear down ANYONE, especially Emily, Sasha and others. That's the reason I left (got kicked off of) MKF -- I was often the sole voice sticking up for all the skaters they constantly tore down. The constant wave of negativity was overwhelming, and the moderators don't care one bit to stop it. All my solo defending of Sasha, Sarah, Emily and others finally got me banned. In my absence they continue to attack and slander these skaters, mostly unopposed. The worst part is that Michelle Kwan is such a wonderful person, it's so sad that she has so many truly evil fans on that board. This wasn't true for the Michelle forums, but I hope since Emily is such a joyous person, I'll find a little more positivity on her forums. All of these skaters go out there and give us so much joy and beauty, and they deserve our respect as much as possible. I know Emily agrees with that. In my personal opinion, Emily was more or less robbed of a gold medal this Nationals from the short program scoring, but does she get angry or start blaming? Are you kidding? Kimmie and Emily both skated great programs, and were an absolute thrill to watch, on and off the ice. Absolutely first class attitude all the way. Now, even I know that internationally, all of our girls have a very tough road, because of the massive points being scored by the Japanese. In terms of points, we are not currently on top of things. But if they go out there, skate their best and keep their positive attitude, then I can't think of anything better. Anyway, hello EH forums. I was front row for Campbell's Cup 2006, and I have a lot of great pictures I still haven't shared with anyone (cause of the cretinous behavior of the MKF people.) A LOT of great Emily shots. My camera seemed to love her. I look forward to finally sharing them! TTYL. |

We may have new members like myself here, so I thought I would resurrect this thread. I am a fan of figure skating and figure skaters, and I enjoy watching new skaters come on the scene, develop and blossom. They all evolve in different ways and I delight in the diversity. I've been watching Emily since she was a junior at Nationals 2003 in Dallas and seeing how the years have treated her skating. I'm looking for this year to be a breathrough season for her. Particle Man - how awful that you had an unpleasant experience at MKF I guess I was lucky, I've had the exact opposite response when I posted about other skaters on that Forum. But I do sympathize with you and admire your support of other skaters. I was at Campbell's Cup - in the first row also and I have a lot of really rgeat photos also. |

Just based on a brief recent perusal of that forum, I have to say that every criticism that Particle Man makes of it true, and then some. It is without a doubt one of the snarkiest, most mean-spirited forums I've ever encountered on the Web -- and that's saying something, because I've seen a lot. There are a few very nice people there, but the bad seem to far outnumber (or at least out-shout) the good. I can't for the life of me see how any who is not already an aficionado of skating could become more enamoured of it from the discussions there. But I really don't want this to become a "boards on boards" thread. Better to keep focussed on Emily -- whose skating, I have found, is a very effective antidote to any negative feelings that one may have. |
