Hi. Thanks for the site, but I have some concerns. I posted a message but I don't see it yet? Maybe it takes time. Anyway, all the buttons and controls are more or less invisible. So in case Emily DID want to check them out, she might not be able to figure out the controls? That would be bad... might want to color those buttons and sliders...

Hey! Welcome to the forum! I'd probably wait for Judith/Evil for an official answer, but I figured I'd take a shot at it...Please take these preliminary answers to your questions as a grain of salt until the aforementioned members arrive =)

I believe posts are edited for grammer/etc. before they are officially posted, but I'm not entirely sure.

As far as I know, I don't think the site is intended to have "buttons", per se, but just a series of links in the table leading to the various pages. Simple, yet (in my opinion) effective. To view the messages, all one would have to do would be to scroll down to the big bold header titled "Messages", where it is stated, "For the list of messages, please click here." One would just have to, well, click there. However, if your web browser somehow does not display the website correctly and does not show the links/scrollbar, that would probably be a separate problem that would need to be addressed...

Thanks for the comments/suggestions! Again, Judith/Evil will probably provide a more adequate/accurate response in a bit =).

Hi, thanks for submitting your message. I've added it. Yes, it does take a while - frankly, I'm not a robot.

I will redo the layout then - does anyone have any ideas as to what it should look like? I will use iFrames and imagemaps, but does anyone have any ideas on colour schemes/pictures to use? That would make it ten times easier for me.

Well, I'm not Emily and I've never met her. If someone does tell her about the site, then yes, she will see the messages, but up until now unless someone tells her about it, she may never hear of the site.

And thank you for explaining, it imnamerican. :thumb:

Various people ask whether EH sees messages to her or even visits this site. This site is listed on Wikipedia's E HUGHES page. There is a link to it. I am sure someone is bound to tell her that there is an EMILY HUGHES FORUM--if she hasn't checked the site out by now...
And surely some in her camp--coaches, 'agent', friends, etc. are bound to be aware of the this and the other 2 or 3 EH sites. After all, these sites were around well BEFORE her own official site.
Back in the fall I posted comments at the USFSA site and elsewhere that every skater had an official site or fan club except EH.
But Emily is no dummy. I am sure she is more aware of her fans than we suspect! We support her and every athlete needs support from her friends, fans, and admirers. I noticed that on some major skate sites there are a few people who are DEDICATED to trashing Emily at every step. They don't recognize greatness when they see it.
That is why I am so supportive of her!!! She is great in so many ways. Great and I think nice. I just don't think she gets the credit she deserves.

THE ADMINS of this FORUM should officially make contact with EMILY'S site and for lack of a better word, managers. This way we can help support her and be aware of what's up with her and let all her fans know....

In regards to whether EH reviews her fansites/forums, though many will probably disagree, I don't know whether that happens all that often for her or any high-profile figure. Though I'm sure a number of celebrities google their own names to see what comes up, I don't know if they do that frequently or even go into many of the sites for fear of what they might find. I haven't reached anywhere near celebrity status, nor do I think I ever will, but I would imagine that at least some would be very hesitant. I'm sure she appreciates all of the support being given whether she sees it or not.

Just my two cents. Maybe three.

I've also heard that many celebrities don't Google their name because of fear of what they may come across. I guess some do, some don't, and the rest just say they don't.

I've been doing sites for many years. And I've run many and the only two that I ever knew that checked them out are Tara Lipinski and this actor Jason Faunt. But I wouldn't know if the others have. Tara I know did because her friend Lindsey Weber used to train with my brother and she told him and Jason signed the guestbook on my site. The link to his post can be found here http://geocities.yahoo.com/gb/view?member=...power&.start=11 it is the fourth from the top name Jason. I always thought that was cool of him and actually Jason and me wrote back and forth a bunch of times. And he actually answered a series of ten questions that were submitted by fans. I mailed them to him and he sent them back answered. Here is a link to those questions http://www.geocities.com/jasonfauntnet/questions.html He was really great. It is just sad that the really isn't doing too much anymore.

I'm not sure if Emily or Kimmie know about the ones I've designed. I try to keep them nice in case they ever do visit. I would never want them to be disgusted by anything that is one there.

OK -- sorry-- When I saw Moderator I thot that that was like an Admin...

I noticed that the link to this board that used to come up at Wikipedia 'Emily Hughes' is no longer there. Someone is editing this pretty quickly--the result from 4 Continents was up in hours. Anyway the links to E-Hughes.net, EmilyHughes.org, and to the Emily Hughes Forum have been deleted there. That is the Wikipedia site and anyone can edit it I guess--it's not like her official site, so maybe we can put those links there.

I think many celebs have their managers or agents or lawyers check out any site that has libelous, slanderous, etc. info. Usually all a celeb has to do is threaten a lawsuit and the questionable stuff gets removed...
IMO I think many celebs love and crave attention and publicity and in a few cases they have even 'set themselves up' for [bad] publicity....on purpose.

In my opinion, that would be a matter of freedom of expression. If it were a publicized case that directly impacted the person's career, legal consultants could probably get away/succeed with a lawsuit. However, these things sometimes are not libelous in nature and/or occur in small communities that are relatively insignificant to the pop culture spectrum. Questionable items therefore go untouched much of the time because the threat of legal action would not be worth it.

I also think (IMHO) that the whole craving attention thing is a misconception that is often generalized to apply to most celebrities when they actually only are relevant to some, a la Paris Hilton. Many prefer staying below the radar of the paparazzi and tabloids, but few hear of them because they're, well, below the paparazzi and tabloids. I don't know EH well at all, but I would venture a guess that she would be one shying away from too much attention.

Yes, true.. that happened with the "Tyra Banks Fat" ideal - she googled her name and such..

Hm... maybe we could contact Emily by her official website?

No problem. :P

The link to the forum that was on Wikipedia was removed by someone because it broke guideline 10 of the "restrictions on linking". I think E-Hughes.net and EmilyHughes.org were removed because of guideline 11. I never knew these "guidelines" existed until today and I know that some other forums/discussion boards have been posted on Wikipedia for years. :(

We are currently ranked 4th on Yahoo. :thumb:

Google has been a problem though. That's the site that most people use and we are still buried all the way in page 8 where no one is going to find us. I've been trying to figure out why and how to remedy it.
