Nancy Armour wrote an article about how skating is becoming "dull". http://www.azcentral.com/sports/azetc/arti...ingadv0121.html Here's what she has to say about Emily:
Do you agree with that statement? |

I think its time Emily is reconized for her skating! Most years finishing 3rd at nationals would be enough to make the team. If she does really well at nationals and worlds maybe it will turn that around. |

^^^^I agree. Emily is a good skater and I think this year that will be what she is recognized for. It's not like she hasn't done well. She got third at the Cup of China this past season and she got 3rd at Junior Worlds, and 3rd at Nationals. It's not like those things happened because of Michelle or Sarah. She did that all on her own. She is talented and that shows. I really don't agree with that statement at all. Emily got where she is because she is a good skater. |

I don't agree with it. Just like Eli accomplished a lot in college and not just because he is the brother of Peyton. Same goes with Ronde and Tiki Barber. |

Skating is so not becoming dull!! Mao Asada, Yu-na Kim, MIki Ando, Kimmie, and Emily will all be ones to watch at worlds (presuming they make they team-which i really think they will!) And look at Juniors in nationals there is so much talent there with Mirai Nagasu and Caroline Zhang and everyone |

Though I think some of her popularity initially stemmed from the mentioned events, she has definitely proved herself worthy of the recognition and "notoriety". I think her bronze medals at the Junior World Championships (04-05), World Championships (05-06), and Cup of China (06-07) speak for themselves :thumb:. If there's one thing that I've noticed, it's that most people recognize not only her skating ability but also the vibrant personality, excitement, and smile that come with it. |

I've never heard such NONSENSE... "noteriety" from other people. That writer clearly has NO idea about Emily and her accomplishments which were many even BEFORE the US Nats last year. Emily was is 2nd at 2006 Nationals behind Cohen and really shoulda/coulda beaten Kimmy M. Then there wouldn't have been a controversy about Hughes--it would have been Kimmie that would have been bumped off. Maybe there would have been an even bigger controversy if KM had been left off the team--who knows. Emily skated well at the Olympics and in my rankings ended up 4th! She SHOULD have medalled at World's but was inconsistent. Emily is a great jumper and when she gets those down pat, she will be on the podium EVERYTIME and everywhere... That writer did a lousy job. |
