Many articles about the Championships have comments about Emily's power, huge jumps, happy face, and big smile and super attitude. Big jumps, high jumps, etc. come to mind. In a FOX sports article they said that many NBA players would want her "springs." Emily was bigger, better, more daring etc., than any other lady. True Kimmie did have a few smoother landings but with lower jumps. Emily went for it and the jump failed. She is still a winner with us!! I think Emily will beat KIMMIE in Japan as the Japanese appreciate the big jump. I think Emily can do a triple axel. So EMILY I am so so proud of you! I am sure she is proud how well she did. Emily is a STAR and a super skater. U R the Best! We are with you. AC |

I was extremely proud of her also, and of a lot of the girls especially after the wonderful short program. I was choked up. I don't remember seeing such a string of flawless programs. Emily had me worried after Skate America! I haven't been keeping up on news (because I don't want to find out results in advance), does anyone know what really happened with her Skate America program, not being able to get off the ice? Also, does anyone else think she was kind of robbed on the short program scoring for Nationals? I'm not a judge, and I still can't really discern things like edges... I understand how Kimmie got more points for doing a 3-3, however I looked at those numbers, and that accounts for only about 2.2 extra points. Meaning that in addition to her 3-3 vs Emily's 3-2, Kimmie earned a whole extra point on the rest of the program? I just did not see that at all. I thought Emily's overall program was better, and I'd estimate putting her about 0.5 - 1.5 points behind on the short, rather than over 3 points behind. Meaning she would have won even with the LP fall.
Oh well. Looking at the numbers Emily has gotten in the past, she always seems to come out behind her fellow top US skaters, so I am thinking it is some issue with difficulty. Hopefully she will improve her difficulty, Kimmie will improve her artistry/emotion, and both will be great rivals to each other and also those Japanese skaters! I can only hope anyway...Edit: With this new judging system, I really wish that ESPN/ABC would give us a breakdown of the scoring and elements, even if it is just a quick shot of it. I have seen them do it ONCE -- a side-by-side comparison and breakdown of all the elements in 2 skaters programs. It was very informative, and let us know what the freak was going on, why people won, and what elements helped them win. WHY they never did it again, I can't imagine. |

I think Emily did a great job too and I am proud of her. She had one fall and it didn't even hurt her program one bit. She pulled herself together and the rest of her program. I am happy for her but I am also happy for Kimmie too. I'm a huge fan of both girls and was happy that Kimmie won too! Despite her one bobble on her first triple lutz Kimmie also skated beautifully and to me she did deserve the title. Worlds will be interesting because there is a lot of competition out there. I can't wait to see what happens. But all my best goes to both Emily and Kimmie because they are both amazing skaters. |

I was really impressed with Emily’s jumps at Nationals, just beautifully executed.
It is just sinking in how close she came to winning the Gold, another case of “if only”. Well, I just wanted her to medal at Nationals, so winning a Silver and getting so close to the Gold exceed my expectations. |

That is very true, but remember that wherever Emily places on the podium, we'll always be proud of her no matter what. Great skaters don't need 24837805420 titles - it's their skating that really matters. |

I thought she did fantastic at Nationals. I LOVED her SP and I was really proud of how she didn't let her LP drop off at ALL after the fall. She just got up and kept going like she'd skated a perfect program, and that kept the audience into the performance....she was great.

K, I know I'm a little late here, but...I was SOOOOO proud of Emily after Nats too!! She really threw herself into those performances with her usual enthusiasm and determination, and she skated soo well, I was just thrilled for her!!! Really she should have gotten gold too, since Kimmie's 3-3's that were cheated but didn't get downgraded (love Kimmie too!), but I'm still uber happy for her for getting silver!! |

I saw them both on ESPN2 yesterday. They both introduced themselves before their Freeskate, and I must say that both Emily AND Kimmie seemed very,very....nice. I thought both of them from what they sounded like on TV. to be 2 of the sweetest, kindest skaters ever!!! |
