I like the EuroSport coverage--they have better video of the skaters. Often ESPN video has the skater look like an ant and sometimes I can't tell who the skater is. But the YouTube quality is very poor though. I'd love these performances taken off the satellite or cable and put directly onto TAPE or DVD! I'll bet the pictures are great... |

Hi Sorry took so long to reply... I don't have an Internet connection at home. I use the PC at various places when I can--work, library, etc. but most DO NOT allow DOWNLOADS of any kind. Occasionally I can download pics to a floppy but that's about it. I would BUY a CD-R or a DVD of the performances for 4 Continents (SP, LP), NATS (sp,lp,ex), if they would be on 1 disk. I paid $9 for a DVD of a tv special from 2002. It was over-the-air [poor] tv quality and the transfer from AIR to VHS to PC to DVD made it lose most of its quality. That was 4-year old technology but that was the only copy I could find anywhere. I KNOW that EUROSPORT is higher quality than the local NBC over the air broadcast and these would be MUCH better. Let me know if you want to trade or what... |

All of the videos that were initially posted in this thread are now gone, but someone just uploaded a YouTube video of what I believe is Emily's LP from 4CC 2007: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8N3-NPnLD4&fmt=18 It's a great video. It includes several comments from Emily prior to the event, and the skate itself is amazing. I'd have to say that this LP was very nicely choreographed, and Emily performed it well-nigh perfectly (not a single fall). Her figure is not as curvy as it is when she's at the peak of her beauty, but she still looks terrific. The hairstyle is a particularly attractive one -- she wears her hair longer in this vid than usual, and it really enhances her appearance. (She should always wear her hair this length.) The makeup is very dark and rich, in keeping with her wine-coloured outfit, and suits her brunette beauty really well. Just look at the still of her facial features at 2:26 -- it's one of the most appleaing looks at Emily I've yet seen. The outfit isn't my favourite, but the colour suits her. It's such a pleasure to see her skate so well, and to such a nice program. I think it's a better-choreographed LP than Gone with the Wind, whic probably helped her do so well at this event. One thing, though. After such an amazing skate, I can't believe she was given silver, not gold. It almost makes me think that the judges had a bias against her, because really, who could beat that program? I hope the second-place finish didn't frustrate Emily, and make her think that she would never get a fair shake from the judges. (Goodness knows, that's what I would have been thinking.) In every way that counts, she was the winner. |

We all love Emily and we tend to be a bit biased in our opinions but in the case of this progam, reality must prevail. This was not a gold medal performance, not by a longshot, and Emily, while personable, is not known as a gold medal competitior. She's lovely, she's adorable, and she sparkles on the ice, but she doesn't have the Tech skills to get gold. This program had many, many problems as reflected in the scores where she lost many points. Emily(s): 1. had no 3/3 2. had no3z or 3f combos 3. did two flying sit spins in a row 4. had a poor landing on the first 3Z. 5. had a poor landing and turnout on the first 3F 6. repeated the lutz and the flip without a combo. 7. 3t/2t was her only combo- considered the easiest combo. 8. needed a 3/2/2 combo 9. spins and spirals are not at Level 4 10. footwork should have been scored Level 1 or Level 2. Way too simple for a Senior lady. 11. had a lack of speed throughout the program- sometimes almost plodding. 12. had no variety of entrances and exits to her jumps 13, had a lack of transitions between elements. Her other deficiencies are reflected in the judges TES and PCS. Note that this program marked Emily's last medal, and the beginning of her decline. The following month she skates this program at Worlds against top tier skaters and places 13th in the Free skate. About the judging, there was absolutely no evidence of a bias against her for this program or any program that I've seen. Did I enjoy the performance nonetheless? Hughes better believe it. You don't have to be a top tier skater to give a rousing performance. Glad you enjoyed it too. |
