Congrats to Emily! I'm really impressed with how much she has improved this season, especially her jumps, which are now pure explosive. I hope she'll carry this success and confidence to Tokyo. Looks like she has been working very, very hard this year. |

Nice job, Emily. The only downside is that she is getting more and more popular because she is so darn good and if she gets really popular, then she'll date Hollywood guys and unfortunately, I am not one of them. |

Jay-Zee I think that EMILY has a whole world ahead of her but I doubt that she would want to date some idiot actor or rock star--not unless she wants to possibly RUIN her life. 99% of these are total LOSERS--I have friends that work in Hollywood and in media at various jobs and they see it all. I've worked in radio and have been involved in music, writing, etc. and know whereof I speak. EMILY will have enough attention from guys (and maybe gals) that want her $$, want to share her fame, want a conquest, etc. etc. I think Emily is so mature that she would be attracted to a real down to earth person, or a real smart and nice guy. I understand that she met JOHN TRAVOLTA in Canada. [Real] Love is very hard to find. I know you have a crush on her--she is so beautiful...and I am sure there are plenty of others who do. I ADMIRE and respect Emily and want her to have real success and HAPPINESS. She's got a GOOD HEART...she cares about others and that's a big deal to me. Emily has barely begun to reach her potential. I want to see that Triple Axel!!! So we all wish Emily happiness and success in her life, wherever she chooses to go and who knows maybe she'll fall for one of her fans...so be happy knowing Emily--I think that's what she'd want. I think it's around the same reason as why Sasha doesn't try them.. maybe Emily doesn't get the huge jumps consistent enough, so to stay safe and stay CLEAN, she'll stick with triple-doubles and double axels, because if you miss your 3-3 combos or your 3-axel, your whole program could go down! Not to say that Emily's not consistent, though.

OK, I'm back! Now that I've seen the broadcast I don't have to worry about spoilers. What did you all think? My predictions were pretty good for top 3. I guessed Kimmie / Fumie / Emily - With Fumie knocked out to injury, the placement was Kimmie / Emily. I wonder what Fumie would have gotten had she not gotten knocked out. 2nd would have been a very likely scenario, given the spread. Anyone have any details about what happened to Fumie beyond "neck sprain"? So, let's talk numbers. Joannie Rochette made 2 1/2 mistakes that were noticeable (2 popped jumps, 1 two-footed landing.) She was in first after the short, but I wasn't worried, because I KNEW she couldn't hold it together - I've never seen her do it against the Americans, and this time was no exception. Emily made NO real mistakes that we could see, except she said that she "missed some combinations." In the end, she JUST BARELY beat Joannie, by less than a point. And even with a popped jump, Kimmie was able to beat Emily handily. This is a recurring theme - even when Emily skates clean, which she has been doing lately, she still can't reach that top spot. It looks like she needs some upgrades in difficulty! Of course if Kimmie blew it, Emily would have won, but Kimmie is too adorable for me to want her to fail. Sarah was able to win Olympic gold through triple-triple combinations (7 triples total), terrific artistry, and a fair bit of luck. Now we're seeing Emily hit her stride, so hopefully she can keep this great consistency and get those triple-triples or triple-double-doubles that Kimmie seems to win on, and start claiming some golds of her own. Anyway, it was great to see Emily come through.

I really agree--Emily's JUMPS are HIGHER, stronger, her air SPLITS are higher than many guys, and its all about POWER and GRACE. I like Kimmie but I don't know how she overcame all those points and Emily skated so well. I thot EH really was probably the winner yet KM won by quite a few points. I know if EH does a 3 axel she'll be UNTOUCHABLE! |
