PHOENIX - An Indian tribe fastened a massive glass-bottomed walkway to the edge of the Grand Canyon on Wednesday as part of an ambitious tourism center that has angered environmentalists and some tribal members. The Hualapai (pronounced WALL-uh-pie), an impoverished tribe of about 2,200 people at the canyon's remote western edge, allowed a private developer to construct the $30 million Skywalk in hopes of luring tourists to the region.

I saw a little clip about this on TV the other day. It looks neat to me, and much safer than walking to the edge and peering over. Evironmentalists are saying that it disrupts the natural look of the canyon but I don't think its that much of an eye sore the way its colored. Seems like it will more than make up for it in entertainment value.

Yeah, I don't see it as much of an eyesore either. I think it blends in pretty well.

I'd like to walk on it once or twice. :P

The tribe did this to bring in INCOME. It is better than a casino and I don't think it affects the look of the canyon. The Grand Canyon is massive and there's lots of touristy things in other parts of it not to mention gas stations and the such. Some day I hope to visit it. :) I'd love to stand there w/ Emily :) by my side [lol!] and enjoy the great wonders of God's nature...
