As you can see, we have a new banner courtesy of Judith
Thank you Judith! I think this is one of your best so far.

Thank you and you’re very welcome! I was thinking of a new theme and I was looking at her Olympic photoshoot pics, so I was thinking, “Why not do an American-themed banner?” I think it turned out nice too!

Thanks Mel! Glad you like it.
Lol, I just noticed that the banner goes with the colours of the forum (the blue of the headers, the red of the medals, and the white of the background!) |

Hello again. I like the banner but I see an issue (uh oh.) The banner appears dark. I now realize this was true about the previous one as well, and definitely contributed to what I saw in it. Actually I don't know if it is my monitor, or yours, or more likely some combination of the two. I know MY monitor is darker than it should be, because I had issues with over-brightening my photos and I have to fix it. (I looked at my photos on my mom's machine and they looked totally washed out.) I've been looking into how to properly adjust my video card settings to brighten things without washing everything out. Anyway, I went ahead and used Picasa "Fill Light" to make a brighter version of the banner:![]() This looks better on mine, but what I suspect is that this will appear far too bright on Judith's display, and probably somewhat too bright on other people's displays. I'd like some outside comments on the relative brightness of the banners cause I'd like to get my dang monitor adjusted properly, so I can properly enhance my Skate America pics among other things... |

Hm. Actually, loking at it now, the banner is a bit too dark (the one on the forum now). The banner isn't far too bright on my display but it looks brighter, that's for sure. If Evil could put this up, that would be great!
About the brightness of your display, maybe setting the settings back to default would work, if your computer has that option. |

I just put up the new brighter one. Thank you, Particle Man. There should be some buttons on your monitor that let you adjust the brightness, sharpness, etc. |

Thanks. Hopefully it will be a good brightness for most people, not just me. Actually my monitor is maxed out at 100% on brightness and contrast. I've tried "color correction" on my nVidia video card / control panel but somehow it makes it far worse. So what I did was get a few 4x6 prints made from my Skate America pics, and I'm gonna try to use them to get things set as close as possible in the manual settings. What I need is a new monitor, too broke at the moment though. BTW Judith, what program do you use to make the banners? Does it have "layers", and is it free? Only free program that I know with layers is Pixia, but I find it to be a crashfest. |

If you want, you could try GIMP, which is open-source and free as far as I know. I haven't used it really myself, but I've heard pretty good things about it. I believe it uses layers, but I'm not entirely sure on that. I believe Judith uses Paint Shop Pro, but I should probably let her answer that.

Lol, yup - imnamerican was right. Paint Shop Pro uses layers, but it's not free. You can download a free 30-day trial at http://www.jasc.com, though! |
