Well, first of all, good luck to both of you. Let me start by saying that, earlygame, your team is horribly crushed because of one simple fact: they don’t exist. Our characters have a whopping number of chapters where they're there and your characters are not. Clearly an advantage for them. The rules say that efficiency matters--our characters are there speeding up the turn count by annihilating enemies, saving NPCs and villages (for Vanessa), and building up supports, whereas yours are nowhere to be seen. Ok, so, Duessel arrives in Chapter 10 Ephraim or Chapter 15 Eirika. Arriving in Chapter 10 Ephraim will do him nothing since he starts at level ??/8 and won’t be gaining much (if any at all) EXP. So, we’ll begin at Chapter 15, which is also when Knoll shows up. *Note that I will only post the stats here one time; I won't post new stats for new comparisons. I figure if I post the stats accurately the first time around, the differences I cite in other comparisons should be considered accurate as well.* 20/1 Vanessa 29.5 HP 13.6 Str 18.3 Skl 21.9 Spd 10.8 Def 11.7 Res 14.5 Luck A Lute, B Moulder 19/0 Lute 25.1 HP 17.6 Mag 11.4 Skl 15.1 Spd 5.7 Defense 12.2 Res 16.1 Luck A Vanessa, B Artur ??/8 Duessel 41.0 HP 17.0 Str 12.0 Skl 12.0 Spd 17.0 Def 9.0 Res 8.0 Luck 10/0 Knoll 21.7 HP 12.5 Mag 9.4 Skl 8.3 Spd 2.1 Def 10.4 Res 0.2 Luck Duessel has no supports because there’s a whole list of people that Ephraim wants before Duessel, and even if Ephraim did want Duessel, he would only get him this early half the time, on Ephraim route. Well, Lute beats Knoll in every single stat, and so does Vanessa, so there’s not even a need for comparisons there. As for Duessel, he has some nice Defense/HP but he can’t reliably double enough to be worth anything. In addition, Vanessa has 51.3 more Avoid than Duessel does vs. 11.5 HP and 1.2 Defense (after supports). Lute has 39.3 more Avoid than Duessel vs. his 15.9 HP and 6.3 Defense. As far as Res, Duessel loses to both, for what it’s worth. So, Duessel even loses what he could possibly have had going for him, durability. Oh, and Vanessa and Lute have more use than Duessel this chapter due to being able to move in the sand, not that it matters anyway since both are crushing him. Whereas Knoll and Duessel have just begun courtship, Vanessa and Lute are on their 13th anniversary or something. Now, moving on to the lategame, when Knoll/Duessel is actually built up. Let’s assume for a moment that Knoll’s AS didn’t start at 7 and that he wasn’t so pitiful. Under this assumption, he’ll get to maybe 20/6-7 by the time that Vanessa is 20/10 and Lute is 20/12 (woo Staves for Lute...and Knoll too, otherwise he'd be lower levelled). For the sake of this comparison, however, let’s put him at 20/10. Y’know, if the player happened to be a Knoll fan and coddled him for however many chapters. 20/10 Druid Knoll with A Duessel loses to 20/12 MK Lute by 32.3 Avo, 6.5 Defense, 4.8 Atk, and 2.4 Speed; he wins by 7.4 HP. Obviously, Lute is more durable and has better offense. Vs. Vanessa, Knoll loses by 43.8 Avoid, 9.6 Def, and 9.2 Speed. He wins by 5 HP and 2.2 Atk. Knoll’s Atk lead is overridden by Vanessa’s AS, and even if he could gain a lead due to attacking Res, he’s horribly crushed by Vanessa’s defenses. So horribly that it’s not even funny. He loses mobility to both. And this is at 20/10 for Knoll. Add in the fact that he won’t even be 20/10, and you have a massive failure. 20/16 Duessel with A Knoll loses to Vanessa by 44.4 Avoid and 12.8 Speed. Vanessa also has Movement and flying. He wins in Atk by 1.6, HP by 13.8, and Defense by 4. While his HP and Def leads are “Hmm, nice,” Vanessa’s Avoid lead is “Wow.” His Atk lead is also rendered useless due to his 14.4 Speed, with which he will not reliably double at all (and, in fact, be doubled by faster enemies). For the enemies with 10 AS, keep in mind that Duessel only has to miss his average Speed by 1 point to not be able to double those, and the chance of that is quite likely (~26%). Vs. Lute, it’s 33.9 Avo, 6.4 Attack, and 6 Speed vs. 8.1 Defense and 14.3 HP. Crushed both defensively and offensively, and then Lute has Staves and Movement. Pretty clear win. So, in conclusion, we win the earlygame, when your units aren’t even there; we win the midgame, when your units fail massively and haven’t built up their support yet; and we win the lategame, where your units have built up their support yet still fail massively. Add to that the fact that our units have an Anima X Anima support and are thus extremely beneficial to each other while your units are Dark X Anima, which only gives full Avo and half Def/Atk, and you have quite a huge victory for our side. |
