Passing down a weapon effects Generation 2 exactly the same way having good kids effects Generation 2, how are they any different?

"It exists. I don't think I stated that it doesn't exist at all. You just have to think. It's not going to be laid out in stone. An arguement about your unit's children being amazing is worthless. An arguement that Alec would never in his life touch the Hero Lance since he'd be destroying it permanently is valid. You'd never, ever give the lance to someone that can't pass it on. It's just common sense. It's the basics of playing the game."

How good the unit's kids are has no affect on the first generation.
Them passing things down has an affect on the first generation.
The second generation is affecting the first generation in the case of the debates.
So saying a unit should/shouldn't/couldn't pass something down is valid since it has to do with basic stuff a normal player does when they play the game.
On a normal playthrough, you consider the second generation while playing.
However, your unit's children's stats don't have any affect on anything at all in the first generation.
