Sothe is Manditory, as you need him to pilfer goods from enemies and bosses, as well as finding the Master Seals in the ground and that you are forced to bring him in the final 5 chapters anyways. We know why for Micaiah! Nolan is needed to weaken foes for your weaker characters to get the finishing blows and that Rafiel is needed to give characters surrounding him another turn!
