FE8 is somewhat unique in that it is an "open-ended" system. That is, it has infinite gameplay, unlike other FE games which end after the campaign is over. A few chapters in, you open up a place called the Tower of Valmi which can be repeatedly raided, as many times as you like, for exp, items, and gold. This tends to make the game very easy because you can level units as much as you like. After the game is over, you can continue to explore the map and fight random engagements, as well as unlocking a second, very difficult repeatable dungeon. You could even level every unit to 20/20 if you wanted to spend that much time. If you choose not to exploit the towers for their extra exp, you make the game significantly harder. I would say normal mode FE8 is about as hard as Normal mode Eliwood route on 7, assuming you don't use the tower. Hard mode FE8 is somewhat difficult at the beginning, and gets easier as time goes on. |
