Supports are a little more complex in some ways, and in others, are simpler. First of all, the bonuses themselves are split between two types of support: The first type of support is a "Bond" support. Bond supports are very much like the inbuilt supports of PoR, except the game accounts for them is a visible manner now. Bond supports are permanent and cannot be changed. The only way to get more Bond supports is to transfer data from PoR... 'A' supports from that game will become Bonds in Radiant Dawn. Bond supports increase Evasion and Crit by a factor of 5 or 10. In order to receive a Bond bonus, the units must be adjacent (right next to each other). The other type of support is the "Buddy" support, which is similar to the regular supports from previous games. Everyone can have only one Buddy now, but you can freely discard the support status and begin a Buddy support with another unit, if you so choose. Buddy supports increase in each mission, until you reach a certain "level", after which you can increase the support level the next time you are at base. These points can be accumulated in a number of ways; Sending the units to the same chapters, having the units shove or rescue each other, having them stand adjacent to each other, and maybe a few others. Buddy supports increase 1 or 2 of: Atk, Def, Hit, or Eva. You must be within 3 spaces, as normal, to get Buddy support bonuses. Oh, and Support conversations pretty much suck in Radiant Dawn =P. |
