I kind of like the customization options you have in RD. It allows for more flexible team design that can change at any point, and can be different for different characters to help them fill different roles. The real only issues is that previous FE games had really nice support convos and such, and that you don't have this in RD. RD just has a different system that has a different purpose as a whole really.
