I didn't even think about it... that's a good point. I'm really excited about all the possibilities of adding "modern" FE features back into the FE1 remake. All the refinements over the life of the series that make it really polished. "Supports were fine they way they were. I don't think there was any need to change it." The problem is, Radiant Dawn is quite a bit more chaotic than any FE before it. What I mean by that is that units tend to join and leave more often than previous games, so it can be hard to predict when a particular unit will be available to you (without having played the game a few times, and even then, you'd have to plan ahead). This makes it harder to plan support pairings. In some ways, this made the new support system necessary (no fixed supports) because you could end up in a situation where a unit has no units it can support with around otherwise. I like scotu's idea... some hybrid of the two systems would be nice. Of course, then most people would ignore the "generic" conversations to get the more interesting "full text" supports, perhaps defeating the point, lol. |
