Chapter 2 The next morning, Jaffar got out of bed at Military HQ, washed, got dressed, and grabbed his katana. All of the Fef Military used Katanas as their main weaponry of choice, with a few exceptions. Leon and Neo, two of Jaffar’s three Lt. Colonels, used Fire-Arms. If combat became close, they were then forced to use their katanas, which rarely happens. Then again, all of the Military were adepts, so it wasn’t like his Lt. Colonels were cheaters in combat. Anything could happen. His other Lt. Colonel? Oh, that was- “Colonel.” Jaffar’s door was knocked as he was tucking up his collar. “Enter,” He said, and Garet opened up the door. Jaffar nodded at his guest, “Lt. Colonel. What is it that has you come down here to me so early?” “Sir, it’s like, 11 in the morning…” Garet said, “Um, anyway, our Leaders would like to have a talk with you whenever you’re ready in their hall.” Jaffar sighed, “Summons, huh? Knew this was going to happen sooner or later.” “Is it the serial killings, Colonel?” “Oh course it’s the serial killings.” Jaffar sighed again, “We really need to get that under control. Thanks, go do what you were doing before now.” “Yes, Colonel.” Garet saluted then closed the door. --- Jaffar took the stairs down the HQ, and after a few minutes of walking down the long halls, arrived in the lobby. At the secretary desk, Leon was leaning on the table speaking to the secretary, Crystal. “So, do you like air?” He asked her. “Um…yeah?” Crystal asked, uncertain what the point of that was. Leon gasped, “Omigosh, I do too! We’re so alike! What about water?” Before Crystal could answer another stupid question, the phone on her desk rang, but Leon’s hand beat her to the handle. “Let me get that for you,” He said with a gleaming smile. He put the ear-piece to his ear, “Lt. Colonel Leon here.” “Leon, quit your pathetic thing you call flirting and get to work.” Jaffar said on the pay-phone on the opposite wall of the secretary desk. Leon turned as white as a ghost and dropped the phone without putting it back, then spun around and saluted. Crystal silently put her phone back on the holder. “C-Colonel Jaffar! Good morning! How are you today? Wait…did you just pay to call me when we’re in the same room?” Leon asked. Jaffar walked over to him and Crystal with his hands in his pockets, “That’s right, you owe me 5 gold. Pay me when I get back from City Hall.” “City Hall? Sir, what are you--?” “Don’t pretend like you care.” He turned towards Crystal, “Crystal, anything come in for me?” “No, just I sent Garet to tell you that the Leaders want to see you. I guess you already got that if you’re going to City Hall.” She said, “But we do have a new recruit.” She pointed at a boy with a withdrawn katana, striking at air, as if there was an enemy in front of him. “Name?” Jaffar asked. “It’s Bosco.” Crystal answered him, and Bosco came walking when his name was said, as Crystal continued, “He’s a little weird, but…well, you’ll see.” “Anyone call my name?” Bosco asked, as he tied his braggart to his waist. Jaffar nodded, “Bosco, eh? Good with the blade?” “I try my best,” He whispered towards Crystal, “Whose he?” Though everyone heard him. “Colonel Jaffar.” Jaffar answered his question himself, and Bosco jumped from his hearing, and the answer, “T-THE Colonel?! Leader of Fef’s Military!? Aka Blood Bath Blade!? Oh shit!” He saluted, bowed, kow-towed, folded his hands, he wasn’t sure how to do this military stuff. “Whoa, I think you can stop there.” Leon said as he was about to execute Seppuku. “Yes, Sir!” He said and stood up, after performing another bow. “We sure got a winner.” Jaffar said under his breath. “Well…if you got any questions, kid, just ask Crystal here or anyone else around here…watch out for the hazing though.” He eyed at Leon harshly as he said the last part. Leon shrugged it off with an innocent smile, then pretended to hang himself with invisible rope when Jaffar turned around to exit the HQ. --- A few minutes later Jaffar exited his MP car and closed the door, then walked up City Hall’s stairs. When he entered he continued walking straight ahead until he came to a large set of doors, guarded by two MP officers. The MP Officers recognized the Colonel immediately and opened the doors, then saluted. Jaffar saluted back and entered the large room. The room was dark, only a lampshade in the middle of the room gave the room some light. Under it was a chair, which Jaffar walked up to and sat in. When he did the lampshade became a tad brighter, enough that Jaffar could see the wall in front of him, with one long desk where four people sat in royal uniform. From left to right sat Psio, Rock, JediSSJ, and Eaichu. JediSSJ tapped his pen on a piece of paper, “Colonel Jaffar, we got reports of what happened last night…another killing? Any idea who the serial killer is yet?” “I have my inklings, sir.” Jaffar simply said, “The mark is of the Anti-Boon, as for the one member who did it…Pendant and the CSI are currently examining the DNA on a small piece of blade of the Anti-Boon that we found in the alley. It should have the blood of the killer…” “But what will you do then?” Psio asked, “Not like we have trackers of each member of the Anti-Boon.” “We’re still looking for all members of that organization, sir.” Jaffar said, “In fact, we caught one just last night at Greth’s bar.” “I doubt that is the killer though. Darksushi, is it?” Psio read a piece of paper on the desk, “Doesn’t sound like an intimidating member.” “I had the same reaction, sir. But you never know.” Jaffar said. “Still, what is your inkling, then, as you said before?” Eaichu asked, “Cure my curiosity.” Jaffar looked over at Eaichu, “If I’d have to guess, I would say it would be either Zephyr or Marcus.” The Military Colonel said, “Or another high-skilled member, the way they killed the victims, all the strokes were very fast. No ordinary person can do that.” “Zephyr and Marcus? The leaders, then. Leaders doing the killing even though they have lackeys?” Rock said, confused. “Anti-Boon isn’t very well-organized. And if you ask me Marcus and Zephyr are going on a killing spree, they aren’t fully sane, as you may know, sirs.” Jaffar explained, “Anything else?” “There’s still the matter of finding Zephyr and Marcus.” Psio said, “Any ideas?” “Marcus will come to me, I’m sure. Zephyr, well, I don’t know what to say, sir. They usually do things in pairs.” Jaffar said, and stood up. “If there’s anything else…” Rock shook his head, “No, that is all. Good day, and good luck, Colonel. I’m sure we’ll be in touch with your again shortly.” Jaffar saluted, then walked off and exited the room. Rock, Psio, and JediSSJ got up, and exited through the back, but Eaichu stayed while reading the reports. He gave a faint smile, then got up and left. --- Garet swung his wooden sword at Reaver, who dodged the blow cleanly and jumped back, out of Garet’s range. The two were practicing at the Training room at the Military HQ, with others leaning against the wall, watching the match as the two danced on the large blue mat. Whenever their wooden swords hit each other, it made a loud crack that could be heard anywhere in the large room. Neo lit his cigarette as Reaver nearly missed another attack from Garet. “Hey, this is a no-smoking room.” “Lt. Apocolypse…” Neo continued his smoke, “Have you ever seen Garet fight?” “What does that have to do with anything?” “Sigh, look.” Garet sneered as he missed Reaver again, “That’s it! Try this on!” He threw out his hand and psynergy waves flowed around his body, then flames erupted, burning the air. It became a stream and soared towards Reaver, who quickly reacted by slamming his hand at the ground, and summoned a large block of earth to rip out from the ground and block the fire wave from reaching him. “If he can do that, I can light a cigarette in this room, Apoc.” Neo said. Apocolypse sighed, “Well, this isn’t exactly a psynergy room, Lt. Colonel.” “Well, the walls and mats are fire-proof, and whenever earth is ripped out of it…” He pointed as Reaver withdrew the wall of earth he just created, and the blue mat was still there, as if nothing came out of it, “It somehow returns to its original form. Don’t ask me how.” He said as Apoc looked curious how it worked. “But that classifies this room as a fairly good psynergy training room.” “Hey, don’t we have some ball coming up here at HQ in the next couple of days?” Bryars asked. “That’s tonight.” Apocolypse said, “How can you not know that? There are posters all over the place here. And you live here.” “GAH! Tonight!? I gotta get a date and a suit and a…” Bosco freaked out, and started blabbering stuff, all of which Bryars ignored, “Kid, don’t worry about it. All it really is is just a perfectly legal excuse for us to get drunk tonight.” “And besides,” Neo chuckled, “You got guard duty tonight at the jail. Rough first day, huh? Ha ha.” He laughed as he saw Bosco’s reaction. “B-But I’m just a newbie…” “Not like you’ll be the only one.” Bryars said, “Just one of like, three people. And you’re under-age for drinking, aren’t you? Then again, there is no drinking age here at Fef…” The group except for Bosco gave a, “Hoo-Hah!” at the same time, more in a lazy relaxed tone than an excited one. Bosco continued watching Reaver throw a stone spire at Garet, which Reaver had created out of thin air. Bosco then looked at his watch, he growled, “Dammit, it’s almost four…Lt. Colonel, when does my shift begin tonight?” “Two.” Neo answered, which made Bosco jump ten feet high up. “Better get going before our scary Colonel gets his hands on you.” But Bosco was already out the training room’s doors as Neo said, “Get”. Apocolypse looked up at Neo, as Apocolypse was sitting down on a chair, “When does his shift really begin?” “Five, but he doesn’t need to know that.” |
