We've had Fire Emblem Debate tournaments, but never a standard good ol' fashioned debate tournament. So I'm trying to see who's interested and trying to make a style that works. So just some stuff:
Tournament Rules:
- Quote:
-
- Each debater is given three posts to make their case.
- It is suggested in the name of courtesy that responses are posted within three days of the initial post, however, the enforced limit will be five days between posts.
- Debaters will debate the affirmative or negative case by random selection.
- Whomever makes the topic for the debate will post a random number from 1-100 inclusive. If the number is less than or equal to 50, the debater whose name comes first alphabetically will have the affirmative case. If the number is greater than 50, the debater whose name comes second alphabetically will have the affirmative case.
- The Affirmative posts first.
- The tournament will be set-up in a randomly-seeded double elimination format.
- The same issue will be debated throughout the entire tournament.
Some issues from the National Forensics League that may be good for a tournament are...
- Quote:
-
Resolved: Military conscription is a superior alternative to a voluntary army.
Resolved: The rights of the victim should take precedence over the rights of the accused in felony cases.
Resolved: Communities in the United States ought to have the right to suppress pornography.
Resolved: Terminally ill patients have the right to die when and how they choose.
Resolved: Inaction in the face of injustice makes an individual morally culpable.
Resolved: Juveniles charged with violent crimes should be tried and punished as adults.
Resolved: Rehabilitation ought to be valued above punishment in the U. S. criminal justice system.
Resolved: A government’s obligation to protect the environment ought to take precedence over its obligation to promote economic development. This one's for Neo.

I don't know how many people would be interested, but one topic I've been fired up about as of late is piracy, copyright infringement, etc etc. It could easily be developed into a viable topic if you wanted.
Discuss.

You gave Inui his first (and last?) sexual experience, didn't you? That's historic.
